i remember some one mentioning this band earlier in the thread so i picked up The Hostage Heart - Where There Is Despair, Hope; today and man, it's something else. bands that come into mind when i listen to it are Converge, BTBAM, The End, Burnt By The Sun, and Dillinger Escape Plan. it's a six song ep packed with blast beats, noisy grind and draws obvious influences from the bands mentioned above. definately check it out if you like this style of chaotic hardcore.

Quote from: "HeyVanity"I've heard that they're experimenting because though burn, piano island burn was an amazing cd, it was difficult to play live. They wanted to make something a little more comfortable to perform.

I think I remember reading that. Maybe.

Either way I like where they've gone.

I like it alot. Its nothing like I expected which is kind of a good thing. I definitely didnt want them to make Burn Piano Island Burn II. I like the large use of the keyboards/organ in Crimes. As defskull said, its groovy (groovecore perhaps?)

I have that. And i don't see how you can be hooked to it. Reminds me too much of PTW (i know it was produced by Jeremy of PTW), Underoath and Beloved. Nothing new or interesting. I'm getting very close-minded about all the Hardcore, metalcore bands out there. I want new shit, i'm tired of hearing the same thing over and over again.

i don't know man. they do resemble those bands in a way and could be considered a mainstream like band but i just like the energy they bring. i saw them live and they were fucking good.

bahaha, ive had many nights in that place...many good memories and bad ones..lol!

Papa_Lazarou

I've been off my tits many a time in that place. Never been to a gig in there.
Thursday nights is my favourite, as you dont get many Pill Heads, and it the 'Punk' night aswell!

defskull

do you guys consider Snot hardcore? i think some of their earlier stuff would be considered it.

they are good. damn shame about lynn though. they could have been one of the best bands around.

died20times

naw. they might carry a few hardcore punk elements but for the most part, they were nu-metal and by that i don't mean that they sucked. i loved snot back in the day.

Alot of snot's ideas on guitar work was pretty hardcore. But alot of thier stuff was numetal. Got to say they were the band which got me into hardcore!

Woooohooo! Now that's one more album i'm looking forward to!

Has anybody heard the old Underoath EP's? Don't remember the names, and i'm not at home right now. But they are pretty damn cool. Not a lot of singing going on, and it's mostly pure metal. Good stuff.

yeah, I have them both, "Cries of the Past" and "Act of Depression" - they are both raw as fuck, some of it sounds a lot like black metal. If you played that stuff to some of the scarf wearing fruits that listen to the new Underoath and think it's "hardcore" they will shit their pants.

Also, I just got hold of "From a second story window - Not one word has been Ommitted" fucking awesome stuff, I can't stop listening to it.

Yeah, it was those Ep's i was talking about! Good stuff! But i must admit, i like their new stuff aswell. Especially the song: "its_dangerous_business_just_walking_out_your_front_door", that song gives me goosebumps, everytime i listen to it, i get chills down my spine!

I disagree. I don't think they blow. There are a lot of great songs on "They're Only Chasing Safety". They are def. not Hardcore.

And i wish FASSW would get their ass together and make a full length!

i just can't get into it. there are a couple nice tracks on it, i agree, but the album as a whole is pretty dissapointing. they steered away from everything i loved about Underoath.

I'm not saying that album is amazing or anything. I'm just saying they still make some good songs. And yes, i wish they sounded more like the used to.
