how is that comity cd?

ive only heard the song "About Fracture Of The Last Solid Element (The Deus Ex-Machina On The Road Again)" and i love it.

they remind me of a mixture of DEP and hopesfall.

EDIT: I also want the latest Killswitch Engage cd.

by Refused.

Are they actually any different? I've got the originals and i think they are good enough. Are they remastered for 5.1 or something. Art shouldnt be changed.

I'm so sorry for your loss of musical taste.

nah, kidding. I downloaded it, didn't think it was good at all. Never really liked them.

How many in here think Modern Life Is War is the shit?

defskull

yeah im really not much of a KsE fan but the song "End of Heartache" ive really been digging lately.

Looks like there was a little trouble between rock band Lit and Remembering Never this weekend. Both groups were playing in Tallahassee on Friday night (Remembering Never is on tour with Most Precious Blood, It Dies Today, and Dead To Fall), and according to members of both MPB and IDT, apparently Lit had some disparaging things to say about straight edge, etc. during their show. Consequently, some things were done to Lit's tour bus and they aren't too happy.

go here to see pics of what was done to Lit's trailer and bus and to read their apology to straight edgers. their rant against Remembering Never and straight edge. has since been taken down.

i'm not a fan of Lit or what they had to say about RN, but damn, what a childish move on Remembering Never's part.

the only hardcore band i can stand is Circle Takes The Square, but As The Roots Undo is one of my favorite albums ever, so its more then just being able to stand them, and i think Converge is pretty good, but anything else, i cant get into... i dont mind Blood Brothers too, but ive only heard "March On Electric Children"

so basically, anyone have any suggestions for stuff id like, along the same lines as Circle Takes The Square?

thanks.

died20times

stuff a long the same line as Circle Takes The Square. hmmm. to tell you the truth, i don't think any other band really compares or are even similar to their style. maybe Blood Brothers in a slight way but not really.

some bands that don't necessarily sound like Circle Takes The Square, but kinda stay in the same "art-punk" style of hardcore/screamo territory are-

mewithoutYou
Fear Before The March Of Flames
Blood Brothers
Vaux
These Arms Are Snakes
Lickgoldensky
Planes Mistaken For Stars
pg. 99
On The Might Of Princes
The Kodan Armada
Hot Cross
Neil Perry

Circle Takes The Square are pretty much in a league of their own. Thats why I rate them so highly. I dont think many bands have tried before to combine post rock and hardcore, with such inspiring lyrics.
Beecher and early Minus does share some similar aspects, but nothing quite so intricate as CTTS.

I wont bother linking the Minus purevolume stuff as their last album is pretty shocking.

If you dont like Refused I'd be very suprised. 'The Shape Of Punk To Come' is such a good album, and probably one of, if not the most influential album in hardcore. Check out New Noise of this......

Pretty much every hardcore band in recent years is influenced by these, so I would reccomend it.

thanks guys, ill check out some of these bands, and let you know what i think

defskull

These Arms Are Snakes remind me of Helmet, which isnt exactly a bad thing.

I've never heard Circle Takes The Square. i guess ill have to give it a listen.

HeyVanity

Try Non-Objective Portrait of Karma. That's my favorite Circle Takes the Square song.

I haven't posted here in forever, so I feel behind.

But has anyone else listened to the new Blood Brothers? What I've heard of it, I really like.

And I don't remember who said this but yes. The Refused is awesome. If you haven't listened to them, you should definitely get on that.

died20times

Same Shade as Concrete is my faviorate Circle Takes The Square track. check that one out too while you're at it.

and yea, new blood brothers is off the chain yo.

defskull

i got "march on electric children" the other day by the blood brothers (had to download it, i couldnt find it anywhere in stores) and i like it but its something i cant sit down and listen to the whole cd.

ive heard a lot of bad stuff about the new BB cd like they are experimenting doing other stuff but as far as im concerned thats cool with me

HeyVanity

I've heard that they're experimenting because though burn, piano island burn was an amazing cd, it was difficult to play live. They wanted to make something a little more comfortable to perform.

I think I remember reading that. Maybe.

Either way I like where they've gone.
