El Diablo is repetitive, Carpe Diem isn't, in no way. Will Haven is one of the few bands that have cultivated minimalistic brutality in the right way. Of course, there are faster bands, more technical bands, heavier bands... but i don't know any other band that can do so much damage with 5 different chords...

Okay, i'll try and have another listen to Carpe Diem. I did like the last song, though.

Hmm ... We'll see. I may have been wrong. I always judge bands way harder than i should.

SHAI HULUD have changed their name to THE WARMTH OF RED BLOOD and are accepting auditions for a new vocalist. Here's the full statement from the bands website, Hulud.com.

"The Warmth Of Red Blood Is Accepting Vocal Auditions

Since the completion of Shai Hulud's That Within Blood Ill-Tempered members Matt Fox and Matt Fletcher have been writing material for their next album. Though circumstances have led the band to part ways with singer Geert van der Velde, and change the name to The Warmth Of Red Blood, assuredly the new music and lyrics are a continuation and progression that still finds Shai Hulud's message, style, and sound intact.

Currently Fox and Fletcher are looking for a full-time vocalist for The Warmth Of Red Blood. Aside from musicality, the ideal candidate for this project identifies with the message of Shai Hulud's lyrical content, and is willing to collaborate toward a common goal of creating passionate, aggressive music that carries, and expands on this theme. A desire to perfect the music and performance, and the ability to accept constructive criticism are imperative, therefore, egos should not interfere with this joint effort and are not wanted. Honesty and commitment, and an overall genuinely pleasant, and positive attitude are a must. An intense stage presence is essential as well. A drug free lifestyle is favored over smoking, drug use, and heavy drinking. Members age 25 and over are preferable, though exceptions can be made based on maturity, ability, and commitment.

All like-minded individuals interested in assuming vocal duties should download the following MP3 at:

Whether to cry or destroy

This is a rough instrumental demo of the song Whether To Cry Or Destroy from Shai Hulud's That Within Blood Ill-Tempered. Vocal tracks should be laid over the music, and a CD of this new version should be sent to the address below.

Norma Jean have set "What Is This, Some Sort Of Freaking Burt Reynolds Convention?" as the title to the new song they have been recording with producer Matt Goldman (Underoath, Copeland) as of late. The track is set to appear on the upcoming "This Is Solid State: Vol. 5" compilation release. In other news, the band are now plotting a March release date for their new album "O God, The Aftermath". They hope to begin recording it shortly. For now, they have tacked on the following new dates to their previously announced upcoming schedule:
September 09th Birmingham, AL - Homewood Armory (Feat. Throwdown, Evergreen Terrace, Fear Before The March Of Flames)
September 14th Cleveland,OH - Peabody's (Feat. Throwdown, Evergreen Terrace, Fear Before The March Of Flames)
October 10th Greenville, NC - Pirate Underground (Feat. Throwdown, Fear Before The March Of Flames)
