weight actually evolved to what i call my most favorite song. since two years i am searching for a song that wakes similar emotions in me while listening to it.

and its normal that people dont like aaron turners vocals. most of them complain about his singing style tho'. if you dont like the growling/screaming too, you maybe need some more time to get used to it.

there is also a nice post-rock instrumental on "in the absence of truth" called firdous E bareen, im sure you will like it. oh and check out dulcinea. and the rest of the album. :D

oh yes man listen to their self-titled, there is still some nice godflesh mood here and there.
damn that opener track. 2 chords to rule them all.

The streets have gone dark. They've been dark for days. We board up the house. Hide upstairs and wait!

I love Aaron Turner's vocals.  However, as far as screaming combined with post-rock, Envy takes it away from Isis.  Definitely my favorite band.

theis

Envy?

Never heard of them. You got some of their stuff?

ben

(shakes head) oh jesus tittyfucking christ dude....

just kidding.  they're from japan so if you have a problem with foreign lyrics I don't know what to tell you, but the music is fucking outstanding.

Isis working on new LP
October 6th, 2008

Post-metal titans Isis are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to 2006's In The Absence Of Truth. The as-yet-untitled opus will be released by Ipecac in the US and Conspiracy Records in Europe in Spring 2009. In related news, frontman Aaron Turner has completed Disconnected, the debut album from Grey Machine, his latest project with Justin K Broadrick, Diarmuid Dalton and Dave Cochrane. The LP is expected later this year, with samples available on JK Broadrick's Avalanche Inc website: www.avalancheinc.co.uk

This is good news!

Lots of things happening here as we close in on 2009... first and foremost being the fact that we are heading back into the studio in a few weeks to begin working on our fifth full-length album to be released via Ipecac Recordings (USA), Conspiracy Records (UK / EU), and Daymare (JP). We could not be luckier than to have the one and only Evil Joe Barresi to be at the engineering helm. Joe has recorded many of our favorite / loudest bands i.e. Melvins, Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, etc. It's going to great to have him on board and can't wait to hear the results. We'll be attempting to keep some sort of weekly blog with updates and photos and whatever other shenanigans so stay tuned...

October 14th will see the release of our newest single from "In The Absence Of Truth" for the song "Not In Rivers, But In Drops," and will also include a remix for "Holy Tears" by Thomas Dimuzio, a live version of "Not In Rivers, But In Drops" from our 2006 tour with TOOL, and a video for "Not In Rivers, But In Drops" by Sera Timms. Be sure to check it out.

And as you can see below, we will be playing a handful of shows in the UK and the EU in conjunction with our performance at this year's ATP Night Before Christmas Festival hosted by MELVINS and MIKE PATTON. As the list of performers grows, so does our anticipation - it's going to be completely insane and not to be missed (much like tomorrow night's vice-presidential debate...)

See you across the pond - PEACE - ISIS

Quote from: www.aaronbturner.blogspot.comsomeone left a comment from a previous asking about isis news - here's what's happening at the moment: 8 tracks have been written for our upcoming recording session in november. most likely 6-7 of them will be used for the next album, and the remaining tracks will be used for an EP that will be released some time there after. we are recording with joe barisi at various studios in los angeles with the expectation that the whole thing will be mixed and mastered by mid january or so. if all goes according to plan that means a spring time release, though no specific date has been set yet. the album will be released by ipecac in the US, conspiracy in europe, and daymare in japan. album and song titles will be forthcoming shortly.
