I don't get how can you be at home with your shoes. To me it's a sort of disrespect to your home.

Sometimes when I watch american tv shows and see them staying in bed with shoes and etc, I am like

^agreed. I could never feel comfortable at home with shoes on....but wearing them in bed tops it all. Why would anyone do that?

i take my choos off when asked politely though.

In all honesty, if a friend of mine refuses to take his shoes off at my place because he doesn't feel like I ask him politely enough, I'd definitely kick him out.
I hate it whenever people start discussing with me about this, sort of : "hey man, my shoes are super clean and it takes so much time to take them off, can't I just keep them on?" and I would be like "are you retarded? If I say take them off, then that is EXACTLY what I mean"

considering all the nasty shit you step in when outside your home, I don't think a vacuum would suffice to keep the floors clean. and I'd rather not have to clean the floors on a daily basis.

I use my door matt. Dog shit and vomit are obviously not permissible. I have weird carpets, none of that beige bullshit. It's like billions of little fibres straight on top of the concrete. Literally any mess can be cleaned off of it.
