Im almost back into permanent fulltime employment (interview on Tuesday, which even in the event I fuck up, I have another offer to return back to a previous employer), so in the meantime Ive been temping, at a place some 10 miles away.  not a huge distance obviously, but the geography of Glasgow, means trains and buses is a 1 change at the very least, meaning money Im not able to afford, and also my car is experiencing brake related problems, leaving me with my trusty bike.  Hasnt been much of a problem - I spent a lot on it, because I like cycling - its more a weather thing...if it rains I get soaked (no waterproofs, or mudguards - which is a one way to ticket to wetasstown).  Just on Tuesday there, it absolutely fucked it down (water streaming down the roads type stuff), and there was a derailleur problem happening, so I made the decision to Abandon the bike and walk to the train station the other side of the Clyde (about 2-2.5 miles).  I got there soaked, however with ass drier than the bike would cause.  3 quid for the return trip - one off I thought, no warries - got off at the nearest station, and walked the remaining 2 miles.  Arrived 40 minutes late (I do shedloads of overtime for em, so they were coo'), feet soaked, fleece drenched and bottom half of trousers displaying beading droplets of water.  I placed all the items alternately on the radiator, creating a musky damp scent in the office - for which all were grateful - and just relaxed in the realisation it was over.  The end of work came, and I meandered back to the train station, gaining joy for the now lack of rain.  I stood on the platform, gazing at the board for approaching trains - the details ran off for the next four....all were heading straight into the city centre, stopping at nothing in between - including mine obviously.  As I had no money left, the only option was to walk the remaining 8 miles.  I arrived home at 8.55 in the pm - and by fuck you should have seen the blister.  It rained the very next day - and this time I happily hopped aboard my now fixed bike favouring by far the wet ass I was to receive.  I cleverly packed spare trousers, pants and socks for arrival the other side, making for a happy spell in the too small mens toilet cubicle, avoiding dipping my feet in the small puddles of what may or may not have been urine.  I realise I have it better than many, but still - selfishly I hope Im due a lottery win or summat.

i just felt more alive reading that.

i used to walk to and from school and i would get drenched when it used to rain. being australia, it starts off sunny with no clouds in the sky and come time to leave school it's pissing down.

Oldnewtype

yup been there done that, shit sucks. Last year I arrived at work at 5am completely drenched, on black friday. I worked at Target. Needless to say that day fuckin sucked.
