but i dont had the impression that all of these people are religious fundamentalists. funny how they think a word determines the meaning of what is being said.

so when facing those people theyre either blind religious or uncritically stupid people? would mean i dont have to deal with them which is good for me.

ha ha. no i'm not kidding. i think your being a bit harsh. some people, like my girlfriend for example, are not really religious but are raised in a religious house and are taught not to say it. so the word just isn't part of her daily use, at least not unless speaking about God. but there are plenty of nuts who take offense its use.

when you name "talk, fuck and pray" in one row then youre throwing things together that dont belong into one category. fucking is usally a private thing while talking is private as well as public and you will more likely find me to rage about someone talking in a specific manner. but all three activities are result of a certain education, a background. so if this background is able to result in acts that steals others autonomy, im gonna oppose against the act and its background. for example someone could talk racist, he/she could fuck misogynic or pray in a matter that attacks human dignity.

i lumped them in together because they are things that people do for themselves and with little exception don't effect others lives. the slang i use use may annoy you but its not impeding on your life. me praying to a different god than yours doesn't effect your ability to worship. homosexuals aren't barging into your living room to fuck on your couch.  

i'm not saying that those are things that you are against. just examples of things that people get up in arms about for no reason. people who think their way is the right way and the only way things should be done.

good examples for things that i probablly would have absolutely no right to critizise. besides i would be anti-religous and had the belief that religion inevitably leads to anti-emancipatory behaviour, which i think is not the case.

what i probablly need is a theory of what are good reasons to feel violated in autonomy and what arent good reasons. at this point i dont have that, i dont know if there can be one and i am probablly judging without any fundament. i just think its an interesting topic. just to name some examples of my daily life.

-is it ok to say "nigger" or "fag"? -> do these people have the right to be offended?
-is it ok to make jokes about the mass murderer of jews? -> do all victims have the right to be offended?
-is it ok to draw caricatures of mohammed? -> do muslims have the right to feel offended and burn flags as a reaction?

all those cases may seem similar but there are probablly differences that lead to different answers.

i think that how the words are used and intended make all the difference. when i am hanging out with my friends we called each other fag, retard, nigger etc... those terms don't apply to most of us. and if there is a homosexual or african american hanging out with us then they know our sense of humor and don't take offense. if you piss me off while playing video games and i call you a fag, its just another empty word no different than asshole or prick. do we tell offensive jokes? of course. the more wrong the funnier. but we aren't going to meetings for holocaust suvivors. its just jokes amongst our selves with no harm intended. when around my friends i am a humongous dick. but its all in good fun. i'll be the first to apologize if i offend someone.

but of course it is wrong to say those things or tell those jokes to intentionally hurt someone or to try to degrade them, or mock their beliefs.

Words are only offensive if you, as the person hearing them, CHOOSE to make them offensive.

Not saying I go around calling female friends cunt and black friends nigger, but I do call my gay friends faggot all the time. It's not to offend, it's just a word. It doesn't mean anything unless you make it mean something.
