So get your facts straight before you go generalizing and saying  "i heard". the discussion is not about whether pedestrians pay attention to cars when they are walking, but i would love to see some statistics saying that people who get hit by cars while on foot or on a bike are usually more at fault. i would definitely argue the exact opposite.

Also, as far as the whole making them illegal thing. They're illegal here...but it's like the seatbelt law. You might maybe get ticketed for it when being ticketed for something else. It's not a "You're on your cell phone, fuck you, pull over" offense, though I think it should be. It's just rather unrealistic.
