Woah now little boy. Don't go saying AMERICANS are the only ones who do it. I've had a cell phone since 1999,I CAN talk and drive at the same time AND I've never had ONE wreck. So get your facts straight before you go generalizing and saying  "i heard". I think texting while on the phone is stupid, but I am completely aware of what the fuck is going on when I am driving and talking. (hence the no wrecks)

"multitasking"???

unless you use one of those headsets that are now required in states like California, then i would hardly call holding a cell phone in one hand while driving a vehicle that is designed for two hands "multitasking"

and saying that people who don't drive shouldn't have an opinion is wrong. those are generally the people who are getting creamed on their bikes or while crossing the street by some jerk on his/her cell phone.

And what about those on their bikes or walking that don't look where their going and walk in front of cars? Happens all the time, and it's not cause people are on the phone. Example:

I was on the phone with a friend one day and this guy just walked out in front of him while he was driving and he almost hit him. So,granted he was on the phone with me,the guy who almost got hit was at fault for not paying attention.

Man, I fucking hate people who talk on cellphones while driving.

Do you realize how fucking stupid you are if you hit or kill someone with your car because you were having a stupid little insignificant conversation with someone?  Ahh, that shit makes me agg.

It makes me sick. Call them back. You're inside a 1000 pound steel compartment that could easily kill someone. Fucking think about what you're doing.

You won't take driving for granted anymore after you hit and nearly kill my friend and get your liscence revoked.

It's called multitasking...some people can do it and some cant. But ya'll can't say nothing cause neither of you drive...right?

You shouldn't be multi-tasking in a car.  What should you be doing when you're in a car?  Paying attention to the road,  lights, signs, and pedestrians.  You shouldn't be jabbering on your cell phone, painting your nails or stroking your cock.  Like Josh said:  You're driving in a moving weapon, you can hurt yourself or someone else easily.  They've actually tried to pass a law saying you can't talk on your cell phone while driving...I wonder why?  We are capable of multi-tasking while driving, sure.  But that doesn't mean we should.  It just takes one split second, for anything to happen.

the discussion is not about whether pedestrians pay attention to cars when they are walking, but i would love to see some statistics saying that people who get hit by cars while on foot or on a bike are usually more at fault. i would definitely argue the exact opposite.

Back to cell phones being distracting. here's a little snippet from an article:

"According to a 2006 study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, inattentive drivers, which include those on cell phones, account for 80 percent of crashes and 65 percent of near crashes."

Go here and I'm sure you'll find some info.

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/portal/site/nhtsa/menuitem.6a6eaf83cf719ad24ec86e10dba046a0/

I did find on there, that in 2007,men killed 29,039 people in wrecks and women killed 12,011.

American's are waaaay behind on banning the use of cell phones while driving unless using a headset. there are only a handful of states with bans while it appears that 50 or more countries across the globe have bans.

The US needs to step up on this dumbass issue. i know that here in colorado there is some serious debate about banning them, and i hope it passes.

Kelly, you realize that you're trying to defend the fact that you are doing something that DOES endanger your life and the lives of others, wether you think so or not.

Also, as far as the whole making them illegal thing. They're illegal here...but it's like the seatbelt law. You might maybe get ticketed for it when being ticketed for something else. It's not a "You're on your cell phone, fuck you, pull over" offense, though I think it should be. It's just rather unrealistic.

Can't the same be said for alcohol or drugs though? I'm not arguing or anything,I just see ya'll point out things that you think are dangerous, yet ya'll have some way of contributing to things that are dangerous too. KWIM? How many times have you almost killed yourself drinking Josh?

How does this even relate to having a chance of killing someone?

You're being completely idiotic.
