So,my dog,who is my baby, has started going blind all of a sudden. It happened last week,I noticed she started bumping into things. She had had a checkup exactly a week before, and everything was fine. So I took her to the Vet today...and they don't know whats goin on with her!

She doesn't have cataracts,he said he thought it was glaucoma, but tested her eye pressure and it was perfect. Her pupils are dilated soo big,you cannot see any brown just black, and when they held the light up to it,they wouldn't shrink. Her nerve looks good he said,so he was stumped.

He said it could be something to do with her brain,or her iris. He gave a few BIG names, but I don't know what the hell he was talking about. So I have to take her to a specialist, and he warned me,it could be from $0 to over $1,000.  :(

I'm totally depressed, and really don't know what to do. I don't mind spending the money as long as it can be cured in some way,but if It can't,I just don't know. And then I get scared at the possibility of it being a tumor...I don't wanna lose her.  :'(

I know what you're going through, we've always had dogs in the family and my moms current dog has had problems with an eye amongst other things. I say the best you can do it get it checked up, no matter what it'll cost you. you have to remember that you're responsible for a life and money shouldn't come in the way of health here. if they still can't find out what it is, then let it just be for a while and see what happens. dogs tolerate a lot more than you think and you will notice when she's not happy anymore or she's in pain.
pray nightfall release me
then i could wander, wander to deep sleep

That would never happen unless she was in pain or couldn't control her body, which she's not. And it kinda pissed me off that you are soo fucking insensitive to go and put something like that on here.

Yeah...she's going to be 10 soon...and while I know stuff like this is gonna happen,I kinda like to play dumb to it. This morning when we were outside her pupils  had seem to have gone down, but now that we're back inside they look huge again...so we'll see. Also, her dr said a similar thing about dogs being able to adapt VERY easily to blindness, and the fact that she's an inside dog makes it better cause she's aware of her surroundings.

there there now kelly.  You know im just messin

devilinside

Yes,but this dog is like my child...I got her before I had children, and the thought of her dying/having her put to sleep fucking kills me. Not something I take lightly.

lostpilot

not that good thing to mess with, Trey :)
I have a dog myself, now for twelve years,
and I am really afraid to think about the moment (which inevitably will come) when I will have to put her down. even though now she is in perfect condition.

it is strange, how other dogs, when they're age 7-9 their teeth drops out, and mine's all are just fine. nutrition!

Yeah,Zoie needs her teeth cleaned. She has them all,but DAYUM her breath is stinky! She is soo spoiled,I put her before EVERYONE except my kids.  She sleeps with me every night, and man can she snore. I've just been through soo much with her, raising 2 litters of puppies and her having calcium problems and going into seizures and saving her when another dog attacked her...I've spent a fortune on this girl.

Variable

What the fuck good am I around here if im not the guy who says all the totally unnecessarily and inappropriate comments at the totally wrong times?
