TEHRAN (AP) -- An international crisis has exploded as several U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf launched numerous Tomahawk missiles at Iran's capital city, Tehran, one month after Iran displayed its arsenal of new Shahab-3 missiles. Iranian military officials also confirmed that U.S. ground forces have crossed Iranian borders from both Iraq and Afghanistan, and several Tomahawk missiles have destroyed a Gazprom-owned oil field outside of Tehran.

In an official government radio broadcast, an unknown Islamic Republic of Iran Army Officer read a statement, "This aggression by the United States is unacceptable, and will be dealt with accordingly. We will not tolerate a direct violation of International Law in our region."

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has yet given a statement.

In addition to a statement from Tehran, Moscow has issued a stern statement concerning the bombing of their oil field, "The Russian Federation has yet to determine if the attack on our assets was deliberate or accidental. As a precaution, we have stationed troops along our eastern and southern borders. All our branches of military have been alerted and are prepared to prevent or retaliate to any other hostile actions from the United States."

Poland and Ukrainian officials have confirmed a large buildup of Russian military equipment and personnel near their borders.

Washington has yet to give a press release about the recent turn of events. President Bush is scheduled to give a televised speech tonight at 8:00 pm EST in regard to the attack.
