it was probably considerably sterile due tot he fact its been burried for what...80 some years...all the worms and bugs ate away the bacteria a long time ago, the earth is a natural cleanser..

gross I doubt it! I believe (correct me if im wrong trey) worms are full of bacteria. I know they use maggots to eat away dead flesh,but they aren't regular earth worms.

Maybe I am misunderstanding something but what does it mean by veteran? Like a war veteran? Because why would an 11 year old boy be buried with a bunch of vets?

Its not about people not caring for the lives of adults.  Its about people trying to defend those who can't defend themselves.  Take it easy, we still care about your moms life too.

the whole reason maggots work with cleaning wounds is that bacteria that cause infections feed on dead tissue.  So yeah maggots feed on dead tissue the same.  It works out to our advantage.  But I mean im no expert on bacteria in a 80 year old corps.  But I would imagine that without some sort of food, the bacteria would die.  I mean think of the definition of life.  One of them is that you require oxygen and nourishment.  So my logic would tell me without that, you could not be alive. 
Also remember that a virus is neither alive nor dead ( its a debate in the world of biology) They dont meet all the requirements of life.  So they can stay "alive" for a long time when buried

However if you really care there is a scientific field dedicated to this called, Palaeomicrobiology. 

But killer, sterility is more of an abstract goal we try to obtain more than an actual state of an object.  Nothing is actually sterile. 

And hosh.  Im pretty sure that veteran can be used to describe anyone with experience in a certain area.  But yeah with common usage I think most people think of combat veterans.  Maybe his father was a war veteran who wanted his son to be buried with him.  Or maybe the kid did some shit with the military.  They used to let kids do shit with the military.  I mean there was a lot going on in 1921.  Fucking WW1, communism on the rise, Irish independence , Hitler coming to power............who knows what the kid was doing.
