oh, this is VERY interesting. i was never aware of what exactly this was until just now. i always assumed it was just another idiotic "plain english" translation, but not only is it a new translation, its also paraphrased.

this version of john 3:16 is ridiculous: This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.

I LOL'D. compare that to the king james version: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

honestly, i think the king james version is far more straightforward and understandable. next time i find one of these in a thriftstore, i'm totally buying it. i don't like the idea at ALL, but it will be interesting to read for sure, seeing as it's one man's interpretation of the entire bible.

there was a hip hop version translated some time ago i think. i vaguely remember it. if not, i need to do mine...that'd be an instant seller.
