What are you talking about? You bring random quotes from people no-one has even heard of, people with no authority to speak for the majority of Muslims, in order to 'back up' an essentially flawed argument?

Whenever I turn on the news, someone is talking about 'Islamic terrorism', what are you talking about when you refer to 'political correctness'? Forget political correctness, fundamentally, the phrase so fervently coined by the media 'Islamic terrorism' is completely incorrect. The word 'Islam' comes from the Arabic word 'Salaam' which means 'peace'. The Holy Book of Islam, the Quraan, the utmost authority on all matters of religion, clearly states something along the lines of: 'For the one who kills another human being unjustly, it is like he has killed the whole of humanity; and for one who saves another human being, it is like he has saved the whole of humanity'. You're not even allowed to harm a tree in Islam unless you specifically require the wood for some purpose.

Your argument is very strange, because when you look at true Islam, you can clearly see that gratuitous violence and so-called 'terrorism' are not allowed. To state that it is Islam that is inherently flawed is in itself flawed.

Islam proposes many of the same ideals presented by Judaism and Christianity, and indeed Muslims believe in the same God at Jews and Christians, along with all the same Prophets. Muslims simply regard Islam as the complete version of God's religion which has been revealed to humanity nation by nation, century by century until ready for the most final message, that message being the message of Islam, following the message of Judaism as revealed by Moses, and the message of Christianity as revealed by Jesus.

Something I wish to clarify is the concept of 'jihaad'. This is another term which is misused by the beloved media. Jihaad means 'struggle' in Arabic, and the most pressing form of struggle than a Muslim must contend with is known as 'Jihaad al-Nafs', meaning 'struggle of the self', fighting against one's own self-destructive desires and impulses. This is the primary form of jihaad. There is also a form of jihaad which is self-defensive, and it is the duty of every able Muslim to fight this kind of jihaad to protect themselves. I believe there are 4 conditions which allow a Muslim to engage in this form of jihaad; if one is directly harmed/threatened, if one's family is directly harmed/threated, if one's wealth is directly harmed/threatened and if the Muslim nation is harmed/threatened.

There is nothing in Islam however, which allows for direct conquest or 'terrorist acts'. The conflict here lies in whether you see the assault on the Muslim world as an assault, which would thus make this form of jihaad acceptable and allowed.

Why the hell does HMV - the UK's main musical retailer - have Fall Out Boy in their metal section?

Errr.. Because they're the UK's main musical retailer?

Martin

Thought I posted something here...mmm...

ToneDef: That's true, but Fall Out Boy metal?

ToneDef

Yeah man, it's bullshit but that's typical HMV. They're a huge company who also own other chains like Waterstones. They don't have a clue about real music, they just wanna sell it. So they locate it in a place where it's target audience are most likely to browse.

You shouldn't even buy shit from there anyway. It's all overpriced. I only ever go in there for their sales which are crazily discounted.

Too right! £15.99 for 'rare' CDs, my ass! Also it's normally the same shit that gets put in the sales each year, and the things that are new to the sale, I already have! But yeah they do have some pretty big price drops in there, especially on the DVDs which is cool!

ToneDef

Yeah definately. If you looking for a particular item then the internet is your friend. Sales though, HMV can't be beaten.

Chrisbo

There used to be a few real good music shops close to me which used to have real good second hand sections but they closed down unfortunately! So yeah, eBay's my place now.

ToneDef

Yeah we used to have a shop called Bionic Records. It was really cool and they used to store all kinds of rare shit. But yeah it closed down to make way for another shopping centre. Go figure.

Chrisbo

Ah man that sucks! The one here (Avalanche Records) closed down, and opened up a year later as a hairdresser, as if there arent plenty of those. There is still another one in town, but it's small and cruddy, doesnt get as good CDs in either.

Me too. I'm gonna go get something to stuff my face with.

ToneDef

I'm eating one right now. Not as good as Chicken and Mushroom flavour though.

Chrisbo

Word of warning! If you're ever at a festival, dont buy a pot noodle from one of the food stalls. I had one at T In The Park, it sucked!
