Man I am SOOOOO fucking stoked to have got them back off my PC.I had a rather large collection, many with friends from overseas, etc hence irreplacable.

They say digital cams/storage is all good but I think a photo album is safer to be honest.

How'd you get shit off your dead hd?  I only ask because I had an external that died and I don't wanna spend like $1000 for data recovery.

Dude it was a MISSON...one of those times you think you know a fair bit about computing but when your "uber nOOb pwner!!11!!" friend comes over you realise you don't know jack shit.

Anyway it was a strange scenario for me so I'm not sure this will help but I had an old piece of software called "Drive Image" which I would back up my system with every 3-6 months.Well it went and died half way through attempting a backup and erased my Master Boot Record and all my partition tables hence Windows then saw my 120 gig HD as 10MB.

As far as I'm aware my friend used one piece of software to repair the MBR and another to get back the partition markers.I still only got 1 of 2 partitions back which was about 40gigs of data.

Anyway sorry for the ramble but if any of that sounds familiar I'll give him a mail and find out what software he used (I think "Kernel Grabber" or some such was one) and mail you.

Hmm, I don't think that will work with mine.  The shit actually died, it won't boot up or anything and windows doesn't detect it anymore.
