it's not about the fun. i've been to parties where it starts of good then i find myself sitting in the corner, smoking, and drinking god knows what or like four years ago where i left my friend's party and walked home, crying the whole way. i don't even know why i was crying but i hated how every guy i bumped into tried to pick me up because they thought i was vulnerable. i was just pissed off. when i'm angry i cry. angry at what? i don't even know.

you do not want to spend new years with me. i'll turn you into a grouch.

i am pretty boring. i just don't like parties. when someone mentions the word party i start to shudder and avoid eye contact so i don't get roped into coming.

you know what's funny? when people wake up on the 1st of january and realise it's exactly the same as the 31st of december.

I'm not real big on parties either.  In the traditional sense of the word anyways.  If I want to have fun I would rather do it with my friends in a nice chill enviroment.  Not get wasted.  I hate dancing.  I also hate when I'm in a place and the music is so loud that I can't talk to anyone.  Whats the fucking point of even going with people if you can't talk to them?

EXACTLY. the loud music is what shits me the most. it's fine when you're in a nightclub because you expect really loud music and a bunch of people just nodding at each other with drinks in their hands as a sign of communication. although maybe parties are the social gatherings you should get involved in to meet new people and make new friends. those are two things i have zero interest in participating in although i have done them before and met a bunch of fucking lunatics whom i'm still friends with. the older you get the less patience you have for such things.

i hate dancing but i've been told i'm an amazing dancer. that was in part due to a performance video i made which a few of my friends saw. other than that i haven't danced in public.

i'm the same when it comes to parties. the only way i end up having fun is if someone randomly blasts metal music in the stereo, or if i get a beer pong tournament going. then i just get loud and drunk and tease everyone there. yes, i make a lot of new friends.

they obviously are older than you and outgrew the "get drunk and dance on a table" parties. they seem to look for other things at a party than you look for. they will act the same at your parties and leave after 30 minutes.
but this is the first time i've seen you actually speak positive about where you live. other wise when you describe it it's how difficult it is to see deftones where you live in canada (?), that they never go there, how long it takes to get packages sent to you and so on, one would think you live in a little igloo floating around on an ice block somewhere in the Arctic

Yeah homie.  I think Musings nailed it.  I used to have interest in these kinds of things.  But as I have grown up a bit I just got over it.

Although I will admit that I really never enjoyed parties all THAT much.  Even when I was younger.  I have always just been a little more mature than my peer group. 

Also, I make new friends and meet girls with conversation.  I don't pick up girls because I'm so hip, a great dancer, and have hundreds of smooth pick up lines.  I get them by being one of the few guys they have ever met that can actually engage them with real conversations ( yes I know how lame that sounds ) but its true and I have been told it lots of times. 
When I first moved to Cali from Japan I went out with some of the guys I work with.  I ended up talking to this pretty cute girl all night and got her # and stuff.  My friends gave me props but laughed and made fun of me at the same time because they said " Trey, you are the only guy I have ever met that picks up girls with politics"  But it works for me.  I used the Ron Paul angle on her, it always works

But my point is that i cant really engage people in conversation and loud parties where people just want to get wasted and yell and scream.  And I have no interest in acting like an idiot, so I don't join them either.

I will agree with Mark though.  Every now and then when I can get a good game of beer pong, some good music is being played, and I'm with some good friends, I can have a pretty good time.

so what you're saying is, i have to go all the way to canada to go to a decent party? hahha don't get me wrong. i've been to the best parties ever but i just don't like parties in general. i prefer going to the pub and having a laugh with a few mates over a party anyday.

Yeah I have had a couple girls tell me that they like my passion.  That seeing a guy who actually has real passion and conviction about something turns them on.  I don't think its the words so much as the delivery.

who ever said i like parties with loud annoying douchebags and vapid drunk attention whores dancing on tables? i don't think he really hit the nail on the head by putting words in my mouth. if anything i'm the first one out the door in situations like that. up here we're more into having a group of good friends together and having a kitchen party with awesome food, laughs and usually people bring instruments and we'll jam and whatnot. i outgrew the get drunk and dance on tables parties musings was talking about years ago. but whatever, you guys will just dismiss everything i say anyway.
