Kelly, not that I would try to suggest something, but please do not rely your 'wisdom' on the fact that you're older. Clearly not all older people are more mature and wiser than the younger ones. It all depends on the circumstances. And for fuck sake, have some compassion for people.

And at least try to stand straight when you're trying to prove a point. And hold your belief until the end, and not just drop it away and cover yourself with jokes and mockery. That clearly does not show how "mature" and "experienced in life" you are.

My age has NOTHING to do with this! Just cause i've been driving longer than most? Puhleeze. And I will have compassion when compassion is shown. Give and you shall receive. When people say they "fucking hate" people who do certain things,I'm supposed to show respect to people who are saying that shit aimed at me?? It's always one sided.   I did stand my ground,I just got tired of arguing about it so posted pictures. That has nothing to do with maturity or experience. It's me trying to make light of the insults being thrown my way. But thanks for your input.

well I honestly feel this in most of your posts. You feel better than everyone else, because you're older and "more experienced". It's like "you kids have no idea what you're talking about". And I am not trying to insult you whatsoever.

If you'd travel you'd see there is a HUGE difference.
Regional definitions vary from source to source; however, the American Southwest is usually defined as Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas. The states shown in dark red are almost always included, while all or portions of the striped states may or may not be considered part of the Southwestern United States.

I'm not saying or trying to come off that way at all. It's just that I feel comfortable with my situation, thats all. I'm not saying I'm better than anyone,or more experienced in all areas.

lol.  Holy shit that was a lame argument.  I have to say, that I agreed more with Kelly than the rest of you throughout it though.  Here is what you guys are not saying.

You can throw out 100,000 statistics at me, but in the end, everybody is different.  Some people are genuine multitaskers and can genuinely talk on the phone and keep perfect awareness to the road.  Just like how they have proven that most quarterbacks are so, because they have an ability to notice everything that is going on in the field at once instead of just focusing on one thing.  I applied for a job as a 911 dispatcher and had to take a multitasking test and scored really high on it.  This obviously means that if they are giving a test, there are different levels of ability to do more than one thing at once.  Ever wonder why some people are way better at starcraft or Age of Empires than other people?  It's just the way their brain works.  Do I need to beat that into the ground any further?  Anyone still confused?

This argument is ridiculous.  So is having to make laws banning actions like this.  People should just know and realize what they can and can't do.  Then be responsible and live within their own personal boundaries.  But responsibility and discipline are taught, not inherited.  And unfortunately people would much rather spend their time bickering and FORCING people to heel to their wills and weaknesses rather than just spend time creating better human beings and a better society.  Yeah guys, take away more of our freedoms and liberties.  Give police and government more reasons to harass us.  That will solve everything ::)

I try to talk with my blue tooth.  Because in the end, I don't see any harm in it, I know it makes people happy, and it takes minimal effort.  But if that bitch is dead, yeah, ill talk on my dam phone.  And my driving alertness doesn't go down one dam bit because of it.  Throw all the stories and statistics you want at me, but I'm not that person.  If I can drive an 11,000 pound humvee through a narrow ass village of Afghanistan while getting shot at and having to reprogram frequencies into two radios, and then talking on the radios all at the same time not running into any houses or walls, then I can drive my fucking Toyota corolla down a nice big ass asphalt road and talk on my cell phone at the same time.

Oh, and Texas is often considered "the south" regardless of its geographic location because it was part of the confederation.

with that logic they might as well lift all the laws. people should just be moral enough not to rape kill and steal, right? thats the whole point of laws, to stop stupid/bad people from doing stupid/bad things.

like you said get a earbud bluetooth thing and problem solved. but i agree with necro (josh i think) no phone call is that important that it can't wait 10-15 minutes. unless on going to be on the road for like an hour i don't answer, and even then i wrap it up with the quickness. i dunno about your phone but mine works both ways, i can always call them back to see what they wanted.

No, different scenario.  If you want to debate Locke or Voltaire and the social contract theory then lets make a topic.  But Saying that expecting people to have enough common sense to be able to discern what is and is not safe in certain circumstances is the same as allowing people to rape, kill, and steal with no consequence, is just ridiculous.

example.  I, Trey Gregory, Drove 120 MPH down I- 10 today.

Now, depending on the circumstances, that could or could not have been wreckless.  If it was at 3:00 AM on a 4 lane highway with no other vehicles on the road but me.  Lets be realistic, that was not wreckless.  Now if it was during 5:00 PM rush our traffic, it would more than likely be fatal.

However rape is always detrimental to society.  There are those basic pillars that we all recognize to be bad.  That if we allowed them to go unpunished, we would be in a constant state of war.  So we have our laws to give us freedom.  But any that go past the basics ( rape, murder, stealing ) just start taking away our freedoms and liberties, instead of give them to us.  So yes, I advocate common sense for the greater good instead of punishment for the greater good.

devlin

i guess we will have to agree to disagree. while the crimes are much more severe i see no differnece in principal. and yes driving that fast, even on a empty street at 3:00 a.m. is dangerous.

^5  I'm shocked by this, someone for once agrees with me. Another thing, with the two hands on the wheel....I don't know many people that use both hands, driving or not. And like Trey said,Bluetooth. (though I hate those fuckers)

Texas is the red headed step child of the south. lol Sorry, but most people in the states surrounding mine don't consider Texas as the "south",whether it was part of confederation or not.

trey, common sense is what is learned from parents and as you and i both agree on, a Loooooooooooooooot of people are dropping the ball on this one. it should be common sense that talking (or especially texting) while driving is hazardous and should be avoided whenever possible, but when litlle johnny sees mom and dad yakking it up on the way to soccer practice, it is learned that it is acceptable. While there are some people who can multitask all day, how many people do you know have trouble frocusing on one task? this is probeably the biggest shortcoming for all kids, why does it seem that parents arent taking the time to parent? i know i make this arguement alot but most of the time when i think about causes for stupid behavior, the parents always seem to be an underlying cause.

Yeah, should be.  I think that somehow Americans got it in their heads that they are actually too good to parent.  This notion that we should have the government problem solve and fix all of our problems is really quite disturbing.  But it has become such a popular opinion lately, it blows my mind.
