tech question:
will a wireless router work if my pc is upstairs and the device i want it for is downstairs?

Should work just fine, although the signal could be weaker than it would be if you had a wireless router in the next room or in the same room. My wireless router is down the hall, like 3 rooms away and it works just fine. It really just depends I guess. Wireless routers are pretty powerful being that neighbors can sometimes pick up a signal and piggyback on it. Make sure you lock up your network.      Gosh, I'm such a nerd.
