I'm a huuuuge Silent Hill game fan, so I'm seeing the movie... It looks like it's gonna be so bad if you don't separate it from the games...  which I will have a hard time doing. But I'm gonna go see it any way.

Also I just watched "Neverwas," with Ian McKellen, Aaron Eckhart, Brittany Murphy and Nick Nolte. It was like "The Fisher King," but less depressing. Movies about those with mental illness always pull me in.

Eraserhead is next on my list. I've seen Inland Empire a year or 2 ago, but couldn't sit through the whole thing.
The shorts he made early in his career are pretty interesting too, I like 'The Alphabet'.

Watch Lost Highway!

I watched "Sunset Boulevard." I really liked it for the period of film. It was a lot darker than I expected.

Also, seeing the new "Silent Hill" today... Will report back.

Sunset Boulevard is a favorite of mine. The ending creeped me out quite a bit. You can never go wrong with film noir.

I enjoyed it a lot.us I'd love to hear some recommendations of other film noir.

As far as "Silent Hill: Revelations"...  Just... It was pretty damn awful. The acting was horrid. The way the writers chose to progress the storyline was pretty terrible, and that's with me allowing myself the objective leniency to separate this movie from the game.
So I'll try my best to not bitch about how they changed around the story, roles of characters and monsters and keep that angst to myself lol.

Some other recommendations:

Double Indemnity (Probably the best in its genre)
The Big Sleep
Maltese Falcon
Mildred Pierce

I spent a few weeks on film noir in my cinema studies class and ALL of these were great. I've noticed that a lot of men love Humphrey Bogart. Maybe it's because they secretly want to be him and all his fedora goodness...?

Ah, I know of him! Peter Falk played a parody of his detective characters in "Murder by Death," with Capote!

Gee

Skyfall, anyone ?

The movie continues in the more intimate direction sat up by Casino Royale, only less intense, with no interesting James Bond girl character and maybe a lack of memorable action scenes -too short- apart from the opening and closing sequences maybe.

Brilliant dialogues and brilliant acting though.

Skyfall movie comes out on November 9 and I will be there to see it after watching a month ago the first 2 movies.

Watched Paranormal Activity 4. Actually not as bad as I thought it would be, actually had a bit of fun with it. Still the most pointless and least scary in the series, though.

I'm having a hard time sitting through the third one >_<

Mustang

Watched Cloud Atlas. Kinda lukewarm about it... I appreciate its ambitions, but its still a bit of a muddled mess.

Skyfall

great freaking bond, going back to the essentials, very pure experience

Skyfall:

Isn't exactly a movie that's extraordinary good or surprising. Solid and entertaining, although it had its lengths. The villain in particular was very questionable to me.

Casino Royal is still the best Craig-Bond.

7/10
