You know, after watching the movie I got to thinking that.

Tarantino or Rodriguez can show some gruesome stuff like decapitations or objects get shot into eyeballs and I don't wince at all.

But damn you Cronenberg.  He really knows how to make something you've seen a million times in movies look pretty real and gruesome. 

If you liked A History of Violence, I have to recommend this.  Vincent Cassel does an amazing job as well in it.

I just saw Eastern Promises.

It was a really good movie, but I am disapointed.

Viggo Mortensen and Vincent Cassel were both amazing in their roles. Top notch acting right there.
Viggo could definitely run off with an oscar for his performance.
The violence was brutal and realistic and it made me cringe.

However, the story lacked something.
First off, the movie was too short. It should have lasted about 20 min longer (2 hours would've been suitable).
The ending felt rushed.
I didn't really like the "twist" either. It wasn't nessecary.

Also, too much humor. I was expecting a darker movie.

Overall, a really solid movie that should have lasted longer.

I still have faith in Cronenberg.

Just watched the new Resident Evil, best of the three I think.  More of the game elements added to it and a bit more violent.  Still too hollywood and think they could've done a hell of a lot better with the all three, but I was surprised with this one.
