The Captain

I don't know, I like that he changed the opening shot into what Hitchcock wanted to do and a few other things. I liked him making the same appearance in the hat and everything. It seems like he was really connected, but the actors, my god...horrible

Jan

Quote from: "The Captain"Granted, the idea to remake Hitchcock is just fucking blasphemy, BUT...the movie was shot well, it looked nice

in my opinion psycho remake looks nice 'cuz Christopher Doyle is the director of photography(see Chungking Express, Fallen Angels, Last Life in the Universe, Hero...). He's a great cinematographer from Australia who works mostly on asian movies.

one weak

all i'm saying is that he missed more than a few very crucial details of shooting particular scenes. like the parlor scene with all the birds. some birds are out of focus, which was never hitchcock's intention

The Captain

True, that scene in the remake is very flawed actually. I'm not saying it was all great, but it definitely had some moments.

one weak

agreed.

sooooo.....anyway,

anyone seen Matchpoint yet? i cannot wait to see it. i love woody allen and scarjo.

CentralIllNoise

my roomates are putting in napoleon dynamite right now

The Captain

I didn't get that movie at all. I did like the scene with where they shoot the cow or something though as the school bus drives by...I think tat's from Napoleon....and I like to say "Flippin' ugh!"

law

Someone care to explain about Napoleon Dynamite? Sounds interesting...

one weak

i would say that Garden State and Napoleon Dynamite were two highly overrated films as of late.

CentralIllNoise

i recommend it. there is no plot, but Kip is such a pimp that the movie is good

tarkil

Just saw Wallace And Gromit - The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Very good and funny movie. Really. Check it.

If ignorance is bliss, then knock the smile off my face.

Psycho was disappointing. I agree with Tyler, the actors were crap as crap can be. I think the movie was beautifully remade but just the acting, it lacked any suspense whatsoever. I think Anne Heche and Viggo Mortensen were really crap in this and I know Heche isn't a crap actress, she's made some cool films (Prozac Nation, John Q, Birth etc.) I didn't really enjoy it, I breathed a sigh of relief when it was over. It might just be me but I am not a big fan of remakes.

I'd rather not comment on Seabiscuit. I cried a little but the whole horse racing turned me off a little because it is something I'm against therefore it was hard for me to watch it with an open mind sorta speak.

Magnolia was...amazing, brilliant, magnificent, sprawling, passionate and lord, I can go on forever. Tom Cruise blew away everyone sitting in my living room (about nine folks.) It was surprisingly funny, which I didn't expect it to be. I was so moved, seriously y'all. Look I'm getting all Southern on you guys. I've always believed in coincidence, never fate and that's what this movie had, along with the pain and grief. It was fucking great. I thought Punch Drunk Love was the ultimate film P.T. Anderson would ever have made but man, this proved me wrong. Ahhh, go watch it.

The Captain

Magnolia was cool, yeah, I finally rented it a month or 2 ago. I really liked the beginning.

I'm still trying to deal with the OC playing Youth Group in their season return ads on tv. Can't they pick another band!! Out of all the songs on Skeleton Jar they choose Forever Young.

We went and saw King Kong tonight. It took about 30 minutes to get going, but when it did it didn't stop. Good movie, and the shots at the end from the tower were making me queasy. The shots were awesome.

minus_blindfold

i saw Animal Factory last night

i thought it was a good film but i was expecting somethings better all the way through. i thought  that the young kid was gonna get screwed over by his so called mates.
what i mean is that when  i think about it i realise that the film worked on the sole basis of building up your expectations. by this i mean, it was apparent, or at least made apparent that this kid cant trust these big gang masters, so to speak. and all the way through you get this feeling that something is gonna go wrong for him. yet.... it just finishes with him fading away.
the ending was to abrupt and shit.

overall id say 6/10

what do u think

Well, I've been lickin' this carpet for 3 whole hours and I don't feel like a lesbian.

The Captain

I liked it, don't remember too much though

napoleon dynamite fucking sucks.. he may be great if u find that character funny, but if u dont, then its just dumb... dumb and dumber was funny because it was so dumb it was brilliant. napoleon dynamite is just plain stupid

i just watched saving private ryan.. what an amazing movie

I'm Not Here.
This Isn't Happening.

I watched Full Metal Yakuza. It was quite funny trashy b-movie entertainment, better than Zebraman.

ChickdelaLynch

I just saw Battle Royale and that's some good, gory fun! I was worried it would be massively gory, but to my surprise it was stuff I could handle. Either that, or I have gotten used to this type of cinema. Either way, I loved it. I wuv Netflix.
