-You have ever used the words elitist
-You think that people who dont like your music just dont get it
-You've ever forced yourself to like a cd that you "should" like even though it was crap
-You take pride in finding obscure bands that no one has heard of (whether they are good or not)
-You then promote that band like hell to people you know so when they get popular you can say you knew of them first
-You then proceed to stop liking them because they are so mainstream.

i've never forced myself to like a cd. but i don't yell that it sucks without giving it an honest chance, then take it back and say that it rocks.

that elitist thing is true. a lot of indie people can be so much more annoying and stupid than scene people.

If anyone was wondering:

I think Sparta is now on Fearless Records and not on shitty Geffen anymore.  It's unknown yet, but on their myspace page, where it says geffen it says shhhhh, and they have Fearless Records as one of their friends.  Yea, put two and two togethor.

They also have a new guitarist, which is replaced by shhhh on the myspace.  

the logo in my sig is their new look.


I'm excited.  I think on porcelain, geffen put a lot of pressure on them to make an album like that, which is not to say I didn't like that album, but I know they're capable of a lot more.  This new album is supposed to have a lot more keyboards and acoustics also.  Alright, yep.

yea sparta are definetly not on geffen anymore along with just about every rock band on geffen/interscope (it's all one company). i was talking to tye and mike from alien ant farm about the whole label situation and they were telling me geffen/interscope did an overhaul of their whole roster recently and will be dropping every non pop/hiphop/rap artist on their labels (with the exception of like NIN, QOTSA, and Weezer) since in their eyes if you they can't get hits out of you, you are then otherwise worthless. aaf had an album done and submitted it and was supposed to be released this month but they decided they didn't want to release it and then dropped them and now the album is now caught in all sorts of legal red tape. i don't know if sparta submitted an album but they definetly submitted some demos so i imagine they are probably giving them a hard time as well. i expect we will probably be having this same conversation about dredg in a year as well.

Man I would be really glad if Interscope dropped dredg; they wouldn't have to tour with bands that don't fit their music at all anymore.

and I feel that this dropping or whatever is just going to help sparta acheive a lot more musically, espeacially if they're back with Fearless.

same goes for dredg, and I myself like Catch Without Arms; it sucks interscope is pressuring them to crank out hits, dredg doesn't deserve that B/S.

Arh, shit. I was listening to Xiu Xiu's La Foret to school today, my freaking god it's amazing. It really is, especially when you are sitting in a warm bus, looking out on a dark landscape, with the only contrast being the rising sun. Amazing shit.
