I love all of their albums.
I've never known a band to put out such consistently good music.
It's really difficult to choose a favourite.

1st - I'd put S/T and Around The Fur as a tie for 1st place.
S/T is so dark I think the song structures are just so weird and inventive.Hexagram and WGTB are totally brutal - I love it!! You've got to admire a band that will release a song like Hexagram as a single. It also contains my favourite song: Bloody Cape. S/T just has this feeling that can't really be described. It's not a flawless album but therein lies it's beauty and as a result it's perfect!  if that makes any sense. It just has so much emotion, it takes you on this twisted roller coaster ride. S/T also has what I consider to be their best, weirdest and most imaginative lyrics.
Around the Fur has so much energy and Chino's screams are brilliant. It also has the song that first got me into the Tones - My Own Summer. What an album!

3rd - Third place would probably go to Diamond Eyes.
It also has a dark quality to it but it doesn't quite match S/T in darkness and despair. The songs are shorter and to the point and I can listen to it over and over. Franks parts really enhance this album.
Beauty School ruins the momentum of the album for me and is a song I wish had been left off. After that the album doesn't quite get back the feeling the first few songs on the album achieved.
I would have liked a bit more screaming too.

4th - Saturday NIght Wrist comes in in 4th place. The album also has a great feel to it. It has a nice variety of songs but again I wish there was more screaming.
I quite like that Chino's voice sounds a bit different in this album - the screams are not as good but they are quite weird and different and it's although I prefer his screaming in other albums, it's a nice change here.

5th - Fifth place goes to White Pony. When I first started listening to Deftones this was my favourite. I thought the songs were stronger. Although I don't feel that way anymore they are, together with Diamond Eyes, the most accessible collection of songs Deftones have recorded. I find that I got bored with White Pony after a while which didn't happen with the other albums. The more I listened to Deftones however, the more I appreciated their unique style, which I think is stronger in other albums.I still consider it a great album, I just think the others are better. I can see, however why this is many fans favourite album. It seems to be the album most people like the most before they've given the other albums a chance to really sink in and affect them. Deftones music can be difficult to grasp at first, but once it hits you there's nothing like it!

6th - Last place goes to Adrenaline. The songs are too similar to each other, not enough variety. It's the only album that I can hear the Nu-Metal comparisons in. I think since this album the bands playing, song writing and everything about them has really just got stronger. It's a great debut album but to me the band are still growing and discovering their sound. The albums that follow are much richer and varied

Pushing you back but still you ain't goooooooooone!!!!!!

My order:

1. Around the Fur
2. Deftones
3. White Pony
4. Diamond Eyes
5. Saturday Night Wrist
6. Adrenaline

...wow that was difficult. ATF was the first Deftones record I listened to and got me into them, BQAD and Mascara make this album for me. S/T was, in my opinion, their most diverse album (heavy: WGTB, Hexagram; soft: Anniversary, Good Morning Beautiful; the guitar in Deathblow is the shit; Lucky You is its own class of song). White Pony is the best overall album for me but somehow doesn't surpass ATF and S/T. Anyway, I'm done thats my list and why.

Im hoping Eros will live up to my expectations and be my new number one, but since it aint coming any time soon  :):

1. Self Titled

Literally one of the best albums ever recorded. Violent and hard, yet surreal and tender. Hard feeling to describe which rushes over you when you listen to each song. Its scary ("When Girls Telephone Boys", "Bloody Cape"), mysterious ("Lucky You"), motivational ("Hexagram", "Minerva", "Battle Axe"), and original all at once. Some of the riffs in this album make my brain combust from how strange yet beautiful they sound. Plus it has the sickest cover of all the albums.  :D

2. White Pony

So many memories with this album. Some of the songs are just straight up classic ("Back To School", "Feiticeira", "Pink Maggit", "Digital Bath", "Teenager"). Also, it sounds almost a bit like they were attempting a bit of post hardcore influence, one of my favorite genres, on this album which makes it even better.

3. Around the Fur

The second most brutal Deftones album next to S/T. All the songs seem so genuinely angry ("Mascara", even though its soft ;)). Just that tired kind of anger, like you can tell the people who wrote it just couldnt take any more crap from someone or a group of people, or shit was gonna get real ("Damone", "Headup"). Also has some awesome riffs.

4. Saturday Night Wrist

We all know the demos were way better than the actual album (cough, "Finger of Death", cough) but still, "Hole in the Earth", "Rapture", "Riviere", "Cherry Waves" and "Combat" are all pretty sick. What I didnt like about this album is the fact that it seemed to lack the inherent darkness found in all the previous album. It sounded poppy and disjointed, some of the songs were extremely clumsy in transition from chorus to bridge ("Rats! Rats! Rats!")
other songs were just plain stupid in lyrical content and vocal style but could have had potential ("Pink Cellphone", and mostly the whole album on the vocal style side)

Adrenaline is a tie for fourth place with SNW, though it does contain some pretty classic tracks like "Fireal", "Lifter", "Nosebleed", "Teething", "One Weak", "Bored", and Minus Blindfold" which bump it up a bit, but where it lacks is Chino's vocal style sounds slightly more pretentious (which i cant really blame for, since they were just starting out kinda) and it lacks any kind of experimentation we expect from Deftones.

5. Diamond Eyes

The worst album in Deftones discography. Every song sounds like Deftones  are outgrowing anger (or any other kind of feeling besides slight conflict and overall happiness, Im looking at you Chino), and replacing it with more light hearted vocals and riffs which sound hard but too uptempo and overproduced, overall making the album another poppy and emotionally numb edition like SNW, but much worse. The only good points here is "CMND/"CTRL" (which has stupid lyrics and not hard/dark enough sounding production), "Prince" (which Chino ruins slightly with his new style of vocals again), and "This Place is Death" (which has some really cool riffs, BUT NEEDS TO SOUND DARKER AND LESS PRODUCED DAMMIT). As an album, it is better than most everything out today, (except maybe Tyler the Creator, Soundgarden, or Glassjaw  :D) but its not a Deftones album to me. THIS IS MADNESS, good man. I expect the next album to be awesome darkness and despair.

So in closing, i like s/t the best, breh

well for some time ive been listening alot to SF... and ive got to say it grown a bit on me, (although i always liked battle axe, hexagram and minerva) so right now its like this

1- ATF
2- White Pony
3- Diamond Eyes
4- SNW
5- ST
6- Adrenaline

I swap it with Adrenaline because i'm a bit tired of it and I really never liked how the guitars sounded. (adrenaline that is)

It's strange how DE is one of their most successful (today's standards and methods of rating) but here where the most devoted fans turn to it's one of the least favorites. :-\ They definitely (wow, finally spelled it right, lol) need to change it up for the next record. Attitude and all ::)

Commercial success don't mean cult success :/ White pony was a bit of a fluke I suppose. Diamond eye's is by far their most radio friendly and easily accessible album. Hence all the new fans

To me, every album before SNW, is fucking genius. Basically, if i had to sum up my opinion on all their albums.

Around the Fur

For me, it edges out all their other albums simply because of one lyric:

"It's too bad you're married to me."
