So, this was back in december 2024. We must be close... Right? Righhhhtttt?!!

I hope nothing has changed since December. The eternal pessimist in me hates that "during the tour" is paraphrased.

Do bands ever drop new albums in the middle of tours? And I think about the merch....like, will one day if the album drops the merch booth suddenly has a new selection of stuff based on album artwork? I can't travel due to health issues and am not able to go to concerts anymore, so I genuinely have no idea if it's "normal" for albums to be dropped during a tour. Imagine if he said this in December, and the November "rumor" ends up being right. Deftones will have out Deftoned themselves.

On the flipside, this interview was done in December but just released today. Very calculated. I'm gonna bong rip some copium.
Throw your faith in me. I'll take you some place brand new....

Feels not optimal to release an album mid-tour, but if we get the album so be it.

My theory now is maybe they have a general set list in mind, with one or two new songs in the rotation. Maybe they play the new songs starting tomorrow, and just release singles (and the album proper?) mid tour.

Maybe the merch for the new album will start being sold tomorrow too?

Idk how likely that is, though.

Between their break in April - June is my guess for album release.

gavinkfox

I agree, what are the odds they actually play new music during some of their shows?

I'd say pretty high. They've done it lots of times before. They only time they didn't in recent times was Ohms, but they didnt tour til after the album was out.

New Stef signature guitar.

Quote from: Inkblades on Feb 24, 2025, 01:10 AMAt this point in their careers, I'm going to try to not go in with too much of a preconceived idea of what I want it to sound like. For me, it's more of a numbers game - if its an eleven song album, give me at least seven songs that hit, no matter what they may sound like.

Been a fan since 98. So 7 album release cycles. Not ONCE has the record been even remotely close to what I expected in my mind.

You know what I wish they would do do, but never would? A freaking EP. That would be an awesome way to tide us over while we wait for the album.

An EP would rule. Or if they have b-sides as has been rumored, do a two-song drop like Crosses did with Initiation/Protection to whet the appetite.

You guys ready to see thr first tour show up on YouTube today or tomorrow?!
Wish I could go, my mom said last year she might take me to the one in Atlanta, but idk if she bought the tickets or keeping it a secret until then, can't get my hopes up!

I'm way past watching any band's shows on YouTube. Never even close to the same as live in the room. Hope you're able to get to one, buddy.

Wonder if Stef went up to a 10 string guitar this go around

Formant

I predict a bright orange 10 string, with a floyd rose, was heavily used on this new record

He barely used the 9 last time. Just one track I think. I expect it'll be mostly/entirely 8 again. He did say he'd been using the same tuning as KNY on this record.
