Does anyone else also dislike Steph's guitar work from Diamond Eyes onwards?

He became like such a generic metal player.

I only look forward to what Chino, Abe and Frank do tbh...

It's different..but I wouldn't say I dislike it.  There's some interesting riffs peppered here and there from DE and on, but I feel like the band as a whole was more creative with chord changes and "strange" hooks/song composition when Chi was still around.  I'm sure I'm not the only one who divides the discography into 2 eras.

^ Everything you said is on point. He still busts out cool stuff from time to time, but I do feel like his riffs had more complexity in the Chi era. Often a more unique tone, too. And I definitely separate those two eras as well. Most fans likely do.

I could be wrong here, but I think Stephen, Abe, Frank and Fred Sablan wrote some of this new album while Chino was busy with Crosses, so that will hopefully tell Stephen "Oh, I'm not just adding a little part to one of Chino's songs" and allow him to get a little more adventurous.

Not sure if anyone saw this before, but the snake logo (presumably for the new album) is on the last photo of this IG post from april 21st. Not on any other tour photos either, just that one. You gotta scroll all the way to the end to see it.
