"www.deftones.com/mailing-list" website got an update today: 2025-02-18T11:11:01+00:00, last update was in 2021. "deftones.com" the main website last modification is still in 2021 tho... maybe they are starting to apply website modifications?

deftones.com has been modified lots.. definitely since 2021..

in this you can see last "official" modifications. not just add tour dates or add a gif that was the case...

when they make official changes and really make a official update this will be updated, like the case of the mailing list.

Usually bands share an invitation to their mailing list on social media, prior to announcing something like a tour, special offers, new music, etc.
E.g. the band Deafheaven recently sent out mailing list invites before dropping the first single of their new album roughly a week after.

Updating the mailing list on their website could potentially mean they are preparing to establish a new mailing list for an announcement.

well first of all its just my opinion and i dont want to assume anything too, im just too pumped for this too haha.

but! this can indicate a backend update or preparation for an announcement or backend testing, even if the main site remains unchanged.

bands update mailing lists before big news to collect subscribers and build anticipation.

the mailing list update can be a preparation for an announcement, likely to capture more fan emails before revealing new content.

i just say this because I dont see any other reason why this updated today in 4 years...

btw i wonder if they already filmed the videoclips for the singles. if they are releasing something while in tour it has to be done right🤔

If a single is indeed coming in the next few weeks, I would think so? Especially with the increase in new fans. Hopefully they stick to something similar to the Ohms promotion - WB did a fantastic job with that. Dropping the awesome Ohms video with the album announcement was so cool. Compare that with the Prayers/Triangles video, which came out like two months after the song dropped.

But that mailing list update and the tour being a week away does make it seem like we're almost there. Maybe won't happen this week, but something is definitely happening soon.

Also, if I remember correctly, there was a "Join the mailing list" post on social media right before the Ohms single dropped. If we see one of those soon, it's on!

Interesting...
Although I am cautious about expecting imminent news. I remember the time between rumors about Ohms popping up and the actual album reveal taking foreeeever. Like, there were still multiple months of radio silence from the band until we got the first single.
What I mean is even though there might be rumors about a listening party and @tokyodrifter appearing online recently, they might still only start the album roll out after their tour in the summer. I think it's going to take a long while
