Am very excited to listen to the album on friday after reading all your reactions. I just hope that the album is also a grower cause a lot of you are loving it on the first listen. I feel like the Deftones albums that stayed with me the most are the ones that took me a while to figure out - like the Self Titled and White Pony. Unravelling the songs over weeks and months always ended up having this long lasting effect. Am hoping it’s the same case with OHMS and that I don’t get bored of it after a couple weeks.

That being said - i’m fucking pumped!
Trust me, there’s a lot to unpack here. This might be their most adventurous album since White Pony in terms of just the scope of sounds on the album and how unorthodox the composition is on some songs. Much like WP, every song has it’s own really specific identity, there’s not a lot of sameness on this album.

Pompeji might be the weirdest song they've ever made. And it's good.

Pompeji is probably an instant classic not just for the immaculate sounds, which sound like being trapped on a haunted pirate ship that's sinking into the ocean, but also because it has the lyric "Making hard to believe in...JESUS CHRIST!"...

And that's not even mentioning Frank going beast mode and turning the song into the soundtrack for a lost David Lynch movie at the end.

Pompeji was the only the only song that didn't immediately grab me... until that outro. His vocals on the chorus are different from what I would expect.

I'm sure it will be my favorite song in a couple of weeks though haha.

Urantia is amazing. God I love that hook.

All I can say is that if/when they start touring they better not bitch out and play only Genesis and Ohms. This whole record needs to be showcased live.

Chino's voice on Urantia is pristine. How does he do it? I'm shocked it wasn't the first single, honestly - it's too damn catchy.

Completely agree. It's a crime that wasn't the first single... it's the perfect single. But they haven't never been able to get that right... 🤔😩🤦🏻‍♂️ What a perfect single.

The song a crazy blend of metal and trip-hop. That description sounds like something that could be ridiculous, but they make it look effortless.

I have a feeling tbe rescheduled tour will turn into the Ohms tour. I kept my tickets from the first time around

100% agreed. Every song here would absolutely kill live

Ohms works better within the context of the album as a nice little epilogue, but it's probably still my least favorite of the album. The "time won't change this" part seems like Chino pushing against Stef's riff a little too much. Still a good song, though - appreciate Stef for going for riffs that aren't just bruisers.

Okay, those are my discombobulated thoughts. Good night.

I'm a little sad for Gore now, tbh. If only its production was anywhere closer to this.... this just sounds so gorgeous, so thick yet so spacy, so pristine... also sounds very well mastered, the Ohms video had me scared as there's a lot of very obvious clipping on the audio there, but the album sounds smooth as butter
i'm confused??

I'm just two listens in, but I believe it is as much a grower as it is an instant hit, simply because there's just so much to listen for. The songs also seem pretty complex structurally, so its not just a bunch of instantly recognizable hooks which will stay in your head for a week but grow tiring quickly after that. There's a lot to sink in, but its all just obviously good

Lovely - this is exactly what I wanted to hear!

This has to be the most complex time I've had as a mod yet. Hope you're enjoying it peeps!

Has anyone got the dual wield, ban hammers dropped on them? Or mostly well behaved?

RE: SMLiberator's comment: I totally agree with your assessment. That quality gives it lots of longevity too.

Multiple listens in, and yeah, there isn't a bad song on here. Already putting it above Koi and Gore, and we'll see how far it rises up over time.

I mean White Pony is really good guys

Thanks for your work here Ves. It will be worth it to wait for the highest quality version.

I'm just now able sit an actually enjoy and listen to this.I am absolutely in love. maybe it's the hype talking, but I think this album actually exceeded my hype. I'm curious to see if there's even one person that is disappointed?I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone that's disappointed with this beauty.

Ves, I'm not inside your brain so I don't know exactly how you will feel, but there's a good chance this album could enter your Pantheon of albums from this band. if anything I would bet money that this will be your favorite album from the Sergio era. I could be wrong but you'll definitely like it more than gore that's for certain LOL
When people whisper it makes her nervous.

SMLiberator

totally do believe the hype. hearing it now it's not surprising AT ALL how there were no negative reviews.

also speaking of Sergio, his basswork in Ceremony is gorgeous. I'm not sure whether my favorite part about this song is that, the part Chino goes "oooooh" or the part imediately after the "ooooh"
i'm confused??
