Joined so I could share in the hype. I've had no luck finding the leak but I'll just keep reading everyone's impressions to hold me over. Cannot wait to sit down and soak in this new album.
Been listening to them since Adrenaline came out when I was in high school.

honestly, might be the result from a first listen, but this makes White Pony sound square, its just so ridiculously elaborate on all fronts. the singles were DEFINITELY the least innovative tracks

Spell of Mathematics is SEXY AS FUCK

Ooo this post has got me super hyped.
I'm holding for tomorrow midnight (Sydney)
You're a star, You blaze

Also new here, having no luck finding any sort of leaks online, since I have no clue where/how to look properly.

SMLiberator

honestly, a lot of the vocals and guitar work, especially in the first half, really reminded me of Adrenaline (or B-Sides and Rarities) somehow. apparently I like Steph's riffs the best when they're in a higher register, huh

also, the screaming on This Link is Dead sounds more like rap screaming (over a GROOVY as fuck rhythm) than WGTB-like screaming, which isn't a bad thing at all, just different from what I was expecting (maybe for the better?)

like really, this whole album is groovy as fuck. I DEMAND this to be a huge commercial success for the band
i'm confused??

Far away

I hope they shoot a video for TSoM. I really do.
Idk if its going to happen tho. What a shame.

Hidalgo

Chino going at Jesus pretty hard in pompeji. i like it

man this album is good stuff so far, 2 listens in

astro_kreeper

TSoM honestly was worth the price of admission. Fuck. Really solid album. All I can say.

funksk8er

They have to use Terry from here on out. This is so good.

FatherUppercut

Almost finished with my first listen.. So far so good. I'll wait for Friday to talk specifics

Inkblades

Error has to be the loudest song they've ever made. Not the heaviest - the loudest. The distortion on Stef's guitar sounds like the machinery at a power plant.

I might wait till Thursday to be honest. What's the audio quality of the leak like?

Same quality as Spotify

Mmmmh not sure about that...

I'll see the difference Thursday night, but I uploaded it to my phone and listened on my headphones and it sounds really good.

Listening on a pair of Bose QC 2's and agree. Sounds great

After first listen I can't even pick a favorite track. Each song is so layered and bursting with personality. I will say the soundscape ending to Pompeji fading into This Link is Dead is a top 10 moment in their entire discography.
I am in love all over again

Am very excited to listen to the album on friday after reading all your reactions. I just hope that the album is also a grower cause a lot of you are loving it on the first listen. I feel like the Deftones albums that stayed with me the most are the ones that took me a while to figure out - like the Self Titled and White Pony. Unravelling the songs over weeks and months always ended up having this long lasting effect. Am hoping it's the same case with OHMS and that I don't get bored of it after a couple weeks.

That being said - i'm fucking pumped!

Inkblades

I'm not quite sold on Chino's screaming on The Spell of Mathematics yet. Might be a case of trying to sound heavy on a song that doesn't need it.

nicklav

Yeah... I couldn't keep away after all.

If this is what a Stef album sounds like I'm going to need a few more of them. This is really something special. Everyone shines and it's so unexpected in so many ways.

#2655
the line in "radiant city"  "no one alive has taken me here" reminds me a lot of Palms "you are inside the heart of this web" from Patagonia. this song is awesome

Inkblades

This Link Is Dead is like some bizarre combination of Adrenaline, ATF and a Team Sleep demo. It's pretty wild.

That's the best aspect about this album. It will take time to dig into this material and most of it isn't necessarily instantly catchy, to me at least but I love that...  I can say that it's another amazing piece of art from the boys. It really does sound like every sound or idea they have brought to the table but elevated and refined.

SMLiberator

I'm just two listens in, but I believe it is as much a grower as it is an instant hit, simply because there's just so much to listen for. The songs also seem pretty complex structurally, so its not just a bunch of instantly recognizable hooks which will stay in your head for a week but grow tiring quickly after that. There's a lot to sink in, but its all just obviously good
i'm confused??

Inkblades

So, is Headless gonna be the sleeper of Ohms? A beautifully trippy song.
