So... AfTer listening to the vynil leak, then the quality leak and my mp3 version bought on amazon, I have to say that this is the first deftones' record that i don't like.

It bothers me so i've been thinking of why it's disappointing.

And i found the explanation: the way it is recorded, enginered and produced. When I listen to this record, it's like i was listening to something that was recorded in the 80s. And on most of the tracks, the guitar is too clear. And in the mean time, it's too low and it's mixed with the bass and it forms a noise where i cant clearly hear what each instrument is playing. Plus it misses some essential elements making Deftones that special to me (violence balanced by moments of calm).

In my opinion, it's the most uninspired record. Stef is lacking on this record. And on the opposite side, i like the way chino has improved his singing, the way he is back to screaming, the way sergio plays his bass not by just following the guitar (when i can hear it^^). And Abe what a drummer.

So now, i've just to wait ....4 more years. And i' m happy for those who are liking it. Lucky bastards.

Keep listening to it, you may change your mind.  I went from hating it to liking it a lot over the last couple of days. And you're right about Chino.  He sounds great on this album.

Gore is currently #2 on the iTunes Charts!
Who the bloody hell is 1?

Source?  I'm looking at the charts and it's not even on the top 100.

Struggling to find faults with Gore. Even that record rewind at the end of Acid Hologram (which I would generally hate the shit out of) works because it sets up Doomed User so well.

It's a reel-to-reel tape being fast-forwarded

Since you are Detones' cover artist, maybe you can get in touch with them and ask them to record again Gore with a real enginer and a real producer  8)

I thought it sounded perfect.  I have no problems with production at all.

Take rubicon. The way it's written reminds me of damone or bqad. I don't know how to say it in English, the way it is produced/enginered is too muddy (?). But the song is great.

On this record I like:
PT
Doomed user
Geometric headress (but the way it sounds is spoiling it)
Hearts wires
Lmirl (if only it managed to keep the dark vibe during all the song)
Rubicon.

I can't believe it.... I live in ARGENTINA and the CD was released today, the very first day. This is amazing. I already bought it.

Anyone else order tix from TicketMaster and haven't gotten your email on how to get the free copy of Gore?

I already have my iTunes purchase, but I want to get a physical copy too.  And we got 2 tix, so 2 Gores!

AnotherVaper

I just paid $33 for the album with no download card. What gives Deftones!?!?

Anyone wanna hook a long time fan up with a download? Will happily post pictures of the vinyl. This is the first new album I've bought in 5 years that did not come with a CD or download card.

Based on the google yield, Gore is not very popular yet.

BlueBackpack

just bought the album at bestbuy for 9.99. what is the typical price for this cd? I think it might be the cheapest price around. The album art really pops in person
