I have a simple question: which song exactly is the heaviest? I still haven't listened to the rip.

Definitely the title track. Interviews said (L)mirl was the heaviest and while the content of the song is heavy, musically it is pretty uplifting for most of the song. Gore is the heaviest.
Yes, I do remember that part from the interview so I was a little confused, Gore seemed definitely like the heaviest judging from the comments.

Gore
Definitely Gore.
Now would you gentlemen say that it's heavier than anything they've done after S/T? I wanna know if it's right to be hyped to the max

I don't think it's really fair to compare this album to anything they've done before but I think Gore is heavy in it's own way. It's not in the way you would think.

That's fine by me. Yes, I'm aware that making plain comparaisons isn't fair, but you cath my drift. Just trying to get an idea of what I should expect.

Oh, absolutely. I think if you HAD to compare it to another album it would certainly be self titled but I say that loosely. It's emotionally heavy and dark. It's not very chuggy (which I never minded but I know a lot of you don't share that opinion), I think the way they were describing it as a "heady" record is the best way to look at it. But keep in mind it is of course still a deftones record so keep that in mind when thinking "heady"
Yes. When Chino used the term "heady" to describe the new material in that Rolling Stone article early last year i thought that was maybe too much of an abstract way to describe it but after hearing Gore, heady is the perfect word for it. There's a lot of breathing room in each track to throw little curve balls at the listener. Some are more subtle than others whether it's a sudden shift in speed or a random drum fill or even a compete change in mood mid song. Each track has a lot of personality. It's sort of like SNW in that way only more expansive and...heady  ;)

Gore is only heavy in a sense that it has like 3 low guitar notes.  It's the most uninspiring "heavy" song I've ever heard from them.  Fucking boring.  Sorry.  If you think the guitar part in the verse of CMND/CTRL is inspiring, then you'll love the riff on gore.

I see it as the White Pony for a new era. It's a landmark record that's for sure.

It's definitely not the heaviest record since S/T. It's quite possibly their least heavy to-date. Up until now, every record had its token "Elite," "WGTB," "Poltergeist," "Rapture," or "CMND/CTRL." There's nothing like that on Gore other than the fleeting chorus of the title track, while the rest of the song is trippy and airy.

There are plenty of hard rock moments and tracks, such as "Acid Hologram." But as far as all-out aggression and screaming? It's all but disappeared. And I'm completely fine with that - I've always liked Deftones more for their atmospherics and melody, anyway - but I understand some contingent of fans probably won't be.

I imagine that if someone disliked KNY specifically because it was too alt-rock/shoegaze and not heavy enough, they're not going to be happy. If the heavier side of Smashing Pumpkins and Failure isn't metal enough for you, I would definitely brace yourself.

It seems like every new album is always the "new White Pony" for the first week or so that it's out and then it fades away down the list.  White Pony is pretty much untouchable at this point.  If there was going to be another WP, it would have happened before now.  That kind of music and creativity comes along with heavy drug use which I don't think they do much of anymore.

I completely agree with this, KNY has been my favorite nd has been in my car since its release but i think this will replace it. They already have enough heavy tracks to fill multiple records but regardless of how heavy or soft their tracks have been its always been about the atmosphere of the tracks to me, whether it be teething or rosemary

You have a point. I guess what i meant by that was basically Gore will be looked at as new creative peak for the band. It could be the White Pony of the Sergio era but who knows. Hyperbole aside this is another sold album that i am absolutely loving.

The vocal melody on Phantom Bride has been bugging me in the sense that I felt like it was too familiar.

I think it's because of that song Chino did with Dance Gavin Dance. Sounds pretty similar.
