iPod's are fucking trouble, man. I've had mine for almost 2 years and it's always something wrong.... just before I read your post I actually had to reset my iPod because the display had frozen up. I could play music on it but I couldn't see shit, because it was still stuck on what I listened to yesterday.

God, this is so sad! I'm sorry for you. My sister took a dog from an old lady that died some time ago. The little sweety has a cardiac defect and she coughs all the time. I think she also has to be put down or else she'll die soon anyway.
