I've been listening to Deftones since I was 12/13 ish.. that was ohh 14 years ago? White Pony will always be my favorite, but to say that DE and KNY are shit, shows how much of a closed minded individual you are. KNY is their best album since Self Titled.

I remember when White Pony came out, old school fans were talking shit about the "new" fans etc etc It's a never ending cycle. People holding on to wha they think matters. What matters is that Deftones is still alive and kicking.

The more the merrier. I'll be glad if the Deftones go platinum. I don't think about it as them  "going mainstream", if they get more fans. I think about life being a lot easier for them and their families if they sell more albums. They deserve some recognition. They're one of the greatest/influential bands in the world, and they get outsold by bands that sell by their looks instead of talent. If any band deserves to live comfortably, it's the deftones.

Sextape is one of my favorite Deftones songs. Do you have a problem with that?

I got into the band after WP was released, some time before S/T. I bet a lot of older fans had similar feelings towards the new fans of WP. That's just how it goes when a band breaks and attracts more popularity. The key thing for me isn't when you got into the band, it's that you respect the band enough to give all their material a fair chance. And that you respect all their material enough to understand that different people enjoy different things, and what's your favorite songs might not be another fans favorite songs.

Well said this sort reminds of how I was when I was a bit younger I was pretty close minded and was only into metal stuff anything softer or slow I just called commercial and took the piss out of it saying it was gay and stuff, But then I got into Deftones and through them talking about all the different music they listened to I decided to give everything a chance now I listen to everything from Metal to Ambient stuff, I think this guy just needs to grow up a bit it's so much better when you are more open and judge music purely by how it sounds as soon as you start rejecting stuff because it's not what you're used to or because it's "commercial" you limit yourself and miss out on alot of amazing music.

WP and ATF have been my favorites by the group depending on my mood, but DE and KNY have their own places for me. I considered DE my third favorite by the group for a while and KNY (although not my favorite) has grown on me significantly more than any other disc. I hated Swerve City and Goon Squad on first listen and now Swerve is on of the tracks I enjoy most on KNY. DE and KNY are different than their other records without a doubt, but not necessarily in a bad way. The fan base is deepening and Deftones are earning more of the respect that they deserve.
