Voted for Deftones when ever possible.

Gave deftones my votes, but had to give the creds for best bass player to Geddy Lee (vega is good, but there are many who are better) and the one for best guitar player to Kim Thayil (Steph is amazing, and he creates some astounding riffs, but....Kim Thayil! His work on Superunknown is absolutely frickin' amazing)
And i had a hard time choosing between Chris Cornell and Chino, they're both great singers with unique styles (they've both had their ups and downs)

I always thought Chris Cornell was one of the best if not the best singer around but I thought his voice sounded old and worn on King Animal. There are even times where he reaches for a note and misses horribly! I really thought King Animal sucked, it was like listening to a bunch of old worn out rockers playing a similar version of contemporary rock to Nickleback.
With Cornell's string of crappy solo albums his crappy albums outnumber his good ones, which really only consist of 3 albums in the 90's.
Chino by contrast still sounds as good as ever and I think the 7 consecutive brilliant albums that Deftones have made make him a far better if not more consistent songwriter too, in terms of both melodies and lyrics.
My vote for best singer therefore goes to Chino.
I voted Stef best guitar player over Thayil for similar reasons.
Thayil has done some amazing work.
When Soundgarden were at their prime I was in awe of his skills and craftmanship but his work on King Animal just doesn't cut it for me.
Gone on the blistering solo's from Superunknown or Down on The Upside, I might as well be listening to Chad Krueger now or whatever his name is.
By comparison Stef keeps changing it up, keeps inventing and has created a unique sound for Deftones that is all their own.
I couldn't care less how fast his fingers can move over the fretboard or how complex or simple his riffs are, all that I care about is that they sound damn good and fresh!
When I listen to Stef's riffs I get the feeling he's really enjoying himself, not just going through the motions.
Abe really deserves to win the best drummer category.
I can't understand why he doesn't get noticed more, he really gave me a new appreciation for the drums when I started listening to Deftones.

Yeah know what you mean about Abe I was never really interested in drums before him I have always been a guitar person but he makes me really want to play drums, I know he's not the most technical drummer but his playing is really tight and has a real groove to it which I think it lost with alot of technically better drummers.

I guess you haven't really listened to slipknot then. They're pretty good.. What you're so angry about is their stupid live getup with the masks. I agree that is stupid, but they're talented, whether you like it or not.

Also.. as an aside. Deftones most likely will not win in any category for the Golden Gods awards. Just sayin.

Actually I've listened to the whole discography of Slipknot but to me they're one those bands a bit like SOAD that you like when you're 13 because you're so edgy but then grow out of, musically they just lack dynamics, I'm talking about being able to surprise me with the direction of a song it's seems like every song is written to a template and they don't want to try mix up their sound apart from the odd song like Snuff it's all just the same sound, I'm not saying they're the worst band ever I will always have a soft spot for them but musically Deftones are better they cover a wider range of emotions they have even shown they can be heavier than Slipknot and also Deftones constantly change elements of their sound just look at the difference between both bands first albums and their most recent albums and you'll see what I mean.

id rather have 'Tones not win anything and  know that they have superior artistc ability, originality and diversity.

Of course it does, I'd have given them my vote based on that if they were up for that one. Deftones fans have been donating out of their pockets for years for treatments and showing their support. It's odd that they aren't being considered for that category.
