I been
feeling like this for awhile, I might be alone on this one but why can't they play different Songs on tour instead Of all the predictable ones.is there a way all of SL could just come together and get a hold of these muthatrukas and have  them  do a voting  poll for us real fans to vote for the songs we want hear, if they actually fucking love us they will do It,fuk even korn did that for there fans.they do half the new album for promotion And let us pick the rest.I spent so much money at concerts  just like most of y'all, come on people I know most of u feel the same!

Sometimes if you ask them on twitter they will play it but I think some stuff they will never play live for personal reasons,I don't expect them to change their complete set every night they are not doing it for people watching bootlegs who see every concert on the tour on youtube it's for the people in the audience are only seeing that one show. Plus it would be a logistical nightmare to vary that much alot of planing goes into those tours with all the different equipment required and other stuff like the light show it's not as easy as just showing up and playing what they want.

Also they need to rehearse the songs they are going to play it would be impossible for them to play any song from their catalogue at any time they may be musicians but they can only remember so much aswell, I think Chino even said they've forgot the guitar part to Pink Maggit and Sergio's also a factor with the small amount of time he had to get settled I doubt he even know's all their songs especially since when he was learning them he also had to write new stuff.

Imagine deftones saying fuk it were down wit that and we all voted in a two week span and they enought time to pull this shit off, u know sum in near future.just picture them playing mx-ratsx3-lifter and a few others with a setlist that stays the same at least for 1tour!

DeftonesNZ

Yeah it would be good but there's actually so little space for songs for them to choose especially after a new album, half is taken up by the new material and then there's those de-facto songs like change and 7 words because not everyone's a hardcore fan who want's to see rarities so have aim to please the majority, Also are you high again? aren't you the guy who made a whole thread about looking at the album cover upside down? lol

well of course everyone would have a diff setlist but that's were the voting would come in,let's say they do 6 KNY songs out of 20 song setlist that's there average 18 or 20 per show, we would pic like 3 songs of each album well u get the picture. Btw that tread about upside. Down booklet,I was really fucking bored at work homie 12hr shifts will fuck u up,lol

It's just the product of a long-established band.

that's what im scared of dude, them turning into a kiss -motley crue type of band that plays the same fucking setlist over and over, for example do we really need2 listen ystb fucking song suks.

TheShade1989

Everyone has different favorite songs. And course they play their classics. Yeah, it'd be great if they played rare/uncommonly played songs more, and if they changed the setlists now and again, but so what? If you hate it so much, then just dont waste your money seeing them more than a few times. By all means try to reach out to them, but I dont think it makes sense to say they're taking fans for granted or dont care just because they dont switch up the setlist much anymore. Every single band I listen to has the same setlist per tour minus a couple of changes here and there, so I guess I'm used to it.

cvthedrv

not only the same setlist, they also unite 3 songs playing em faster than ever, i really dont like that

therealdaebat

While I wish they'd play a different set list every night like radiohead, they just aren't at that level of musicianship and aren't the type of genre to switch it up a lot.  By the way Northcal, your grammar makes me shudder.

If anything, a lot of so-called hardcore fans take Deftones for granted, and act like they need to follow your orders. The way I see it, they're my favourite band and when I go see them again next month, I want nothing more from the setlist than to let 'em do whatever the fuck they want. Their setlist could be A LOT more 'predictable' and worse than it is so it irritates me when people whine about it. It's good. They played fucking Riviere on every show of the last tour, and Bored, I wouldn't complain about that. If they WERE playing "mx-ratsx3-lifter" on this last tour... you'd still be moaning that they weren't playing other songs.

If they let 'fans' pick the setlist.. that wouldn't be a good idea. I wouldn't mind seeing a set full of rarities as much as the next guy but if the band don't feel like it, there's no point watching them do that. Let's be reasonable man.

I just wish they did the same thing   korn did in 1999 or in 2000 letting fans vote the setlist for tour, even if the setlist remain the same for the tour.

Korn also only had like 3 or 4 albums of material then plus their equipment and tunings pretty much stayed the same so it was alot easier to organise

very true my friend they only had 4 albums during that time.

I bet with a large enough sample size, the songs would remain the same after being polled.  They pretty much play their staples that most people know: MOS, BQAD, Minerva, 7 Words, Change, Hexagram, Bloody Cape, etc etc...  Then they play the new album which takes 6-8 songs out of the way..  And really what else do you have left, 4-6 more songs?  Not that those songs are the "best" but they have the largest general appeal and are played for that reason, so most likely polling people wouldn't change the set all too much.

Hell no, I much rather not know the setlist in advance, so that I can't know what will be next song.
