Something that's been on my mind today (and that will hopefully get our minds away from the agonizing wait for KNY) was how over the years, Deftones have played a very special, usually off the newly-released record song that they play during concert that usually doesn't surface again in future tours.  I'd love to hear some fond memories of that ONE song (or it could be a few ;) ) that you got the gift to see in concert that you just never hear them play anymore.

I remember in October 2010 (when Chino looked like he stepped out of a time-machine from 1998) they played "Prince" at George Mason...I was floored.  That song was one of my favorites off that album, and hearing Steph groove that sinister line during the verse live was incredible.  I don't think I've heard "Prince" on any recent set-lists which is a shame.

2004, Clutch Cargos, Pontiac, Michigan .. Deftones did Subliminal by the Suicidal Tendencies , I can recall to this day Chino saying "I wana see a big fucking circle in that pit! " ready?! "THEY'RE FUCKIN' WITH ME SUBLIMINALLY!!!  It was so intense..... Also the same night they played " If only tonight we could sleep" by the Cure.. Was phenomenal! During that song, I got felt up and hit on by a blonde girl who looked similar to an older Shirly Temple. Was a wild concert.. My first Deftones concert too!... PLUS! Dredg opened for them, they were soooo on point that night, made me fall in love with Dredg; no one at this time had any fucking idea who they were, just a few people who were into the music, but they put on a great show... By far the best Tones' concert I ever been to.

I know it's a shot in the dark, but do we have any fans here that have been to concerts in the Around the Fur era that got to hear Mx...and that song apparently wasn't as common as the rest of the album live.

If there's one song that I would love for them to play live, out of all the songs they haven't played in years...it's fucking Mx.

White Pony tour - August 2000 (Salt Lake City). It was my very first time seeing the Deftones, after really getting into them around the time ATF came out. I was a little young before that.

Anyway, the boys were playing 7 Words, killing it even though Chino apparently had a slight cold. My buddy said his voice sounded hoarse. Sounded pretty good to me.

Midway through the song, when the band cuts out and Chino does his thing, he grabbed the mic and acted like he was going to say "You don't know me..." But he didn't. He paused. Looked around. Then Stef started playing a very recognizable riff - it was Weezer's "Say It Ain't So." They played the entire song and completely killed it. One of the funnest songs I've ever heard live. If that makes any sense.

After finishing the song, Chino paused again. "You don't know me..." They finished 7 Words and sounded great. I was pleased. I've seen them 7 times since, but that was my favorite Deftones concert moment ever.

The end.

MX was played a lot in 1997 and 1998.

Damn, then I need to hone my youtube searching skills...or watch more bootlegs lol.

To be honest, on the Diamond Eyes tour I feel like "Lotion" was an awesome treat that they gave us; SO MUCH ENERGY...I don't think they played that song much after the late 90's, and it's almost neck and neck with "Be Quiet and Drive" as my all time favorite song (BQAD finishes ahead though).

I saw it live, in Montreal in 2000

Damn I've seen them over 10 times, probably leaving something out, but some highlights I remember...:

If Only Tonight We Could Sleep (2 or 3 times)
Damone
Lotion (more than once)
Boys Republic (2x I think)
Can't Even Breathe (in 04 I think??)
Minus Blindfold (seems rare now)

And I was outside of Trees while they played all of DE and they were playing it through the P.A. outside so technically This Place is Death, 976-Evil, etc... haha

Closing with Fireal (including the ending) at London Scala in 2006.

Tiny secret show. Their encore was Adrenaline track-by-track.
Whilst not my favourite DT record, it was pretty epic.
