I had to jump on the "covers" bandwagon too , here is my cover of the song, im playing stef's part with a bass 'cause i dont have an 8 strings guitar and Stef's guitar is literally half step away from the bass tuning.

It is possible to play that song with a bass but it is more difficult as well because of the longer neck and thicker strings... i took me a couple of tries to get it right.
I used a 5 strings bass with standard tuning and also a capo on the first fret to match Stephen's guitar tuning. (low to high F A# D# G# C# F# A# D#)
