for fuck sake im not the only one who thinks like this!!!, thank you.

by the way, i'd really dislike the uninterested attitude of chino about the music video, i think that the idea of doing videos is very romantic if it takes seriously, and that shit of "the album can speak by itself" is pure hipster bullshit.

i want a actual footage of the band of my life.

mr.sinister

I can only agree, that on a promotional scale, this album is a grand failure.

It's a shame really because it's a great record.

The days of music videos for bands like Deftones are almost over, they just don't get the tv coverage that would justify the cost of making one the best they can do is Youtube and frankly it's not worth the cost because only people looking for the video would see it and they would obviously already know about the album, It's not hipster bullshit about letting the music stand on its own, I like it how they've put the focus on the music alone too much modern music is focused on image and gimmicks aimed at people with short attention spans and the importance of stuff like good lyrics and musicianship is lost I'm sick of seeing videos that are topping the charts that have a badly produced "beat" and only 10 unique words in the whole song, this way people aren't distracted by flashy music videos and instead are able to be drawn in by the songs true merits not gimmicks.

RoyBiggins

Big Roy a.k.a. The Main Roy a.k.a. The Deer (bc Roy runs as fast as one) doesn't give a shit about music videos. Big Roy is never listening to a song and thinks "aww dang, this song would be better with a video". When Chef Royardee listens to music, it's on his $1200 Bose. WBW. Word be word

Your'e a fucking idiot... Deftones haven't had hit singles since White Pony that's no way to judge the album ,KNY won album of the year awards and received other nominations and it has garnered wide spread critical acclaim all the reviews have been 5/5 or 4.5/5 ,And charts don't mean anything these days it's amazing to think they got to 7th on the billboard charts with how the music industry is these days full of Justin Beiber and One Direction type acts it's just an amazing achievement that it did as well as it did. Also they did tour extensively before the holiday break and are continuing there tour soon they have families who require time aswell, 2 months is along time in the music industry I can't think of any other album from two months ago that is still kicking round.

Bifrost

I am still enjoying the album though I havent listened to it much recently, maybe because I played it non-stop for about three weeks straight... the album doesnt have many weaknesses, its pretty strong through out and you can just let it play, thats what I love about it the most how it just flows... so what the radio doesnt play it, they never have and I dont listen to the radio or watch MTV either, its all crap on there, I keep the deftones for me, close to the vest, not everyone gets them that's fine by me... I guess I am selfish when it comes to them, I dont want them to be too popular, they have always been just popular enough and just below a house hold name and I love it :)

WHTY? is easily the worst Deftones song ever.  Take it of the album and you have 10 amazing songs.  Bump Rosemary to the closer spot and you have a 5 star album.

worst deftones song ever? nope, not even close...

YSTB is probably the weakest...but i still like it!

My Great Grandmother said today about Goon Squad "I like the way it makes you bottom bop" .....says it all  8)

they'll be broken up in a year is my guess....the writing is on the wall

1. the material is getting weaker (last 2 albums)
2. not promoting the new album
3. the singer is starting side project after side project
4. set lists getting predictable and boring

similar to what happened to faith no more in 97 before they broke up for a decade

DeftonesNZ

I doubt it the material getting weaker is just subjective most people view it as getting stronger and Chino's always had side projects that doesn't mean anything.

cvthedrv

im not sure about that, its a little bit excesive say that deftones will split up, but yeah koi no yokan is a really beautiful and concrete album, but is not even half the important of what deftones did in the past (except diamond eyes OBVIUSLY)

Way too fucking subjective.

Penicks

apart from point one (which is definitely agree with but that's all to taste), everything he said is true.

DeftonesNZ

Yeah but you could also say it's a positive thing that the album sold well despite the slack promotion which is just the record company's poor marketing and in no way a sign the band are breaking up,the guys are saying they are the happiest and most creative they've been in a long time ,As for Chinos side projects that doesn't mean anything he has always had side projects he's just one of those people who has to keep making music all the time and how do repetitive set lists relate at all to the band breaking up? that's just completely unfounded.
