976-EVIL

Voted Best Album of 2012 by Revolver !!!

Still In my humble opinion not their best, this is the Golden Age of Deftones. Not rebirth as much as a shift.

That is why I Love the band...
One last Thing...You Should Beware the Content!!

Thank God that you........ love..... at all.

Slacker

yeah although i would have gone for that in 2010 with DE, this album is not that great to have it as Number 1.

in any case, in rock at list... 2011 > 2012

not that good of a year for rock acts.

jciraheta

again opinions but for me KYK kick DE ass , ...feels like a much better album and with more epic moments

compare to ST, thigs are closer , but i still think that KNY is a little better too .

to me this album is on pair with the big and better deftones album for me wich are WP , ATF and adreanline

Could not agree more.

I also place merit on my personal growth and tastes musically. This album is the bee knees, especially when the top charts are full of artists pumping "four to the floor" house/techno beats with melodic chorus.I thought that shit died in the 90's with Gatecrasher?Anyway it's a brilliant album but it's like a fine wine after the first 3-4 albums of straight up dirty old shots of whiskey.

I'm still of the opinion I really can't pass honest opinion of any Deftones album until at least 6 months after release.I've shot myself in the foot to many times on this forum in that regard :P

9/10   Other than "Entombed" and "Graphic Nature", the album is awesome! :^)

I hadn't played the album for about a month when I listened to it again this morning and I really enjoyed it. It's a pretty damn good album! I can never get proper first impression when it comes to new Deftones stuff, there is always so much bias, hype and comparison with the old works. However, when everything settles down and I know basically how the album sounds, but I am not too familiar with it - that's when I can get proper taste of it. KNY felt great when I replayed it after completely forgetting it for some time, DE didn't.

I like having WHTY at the end. although it doesn't have some grand epic ending, It has cool atmosphere that rings out. At least for me, it make a big impact as an album closer

I agree, its a good closer, the chorus: this night belongs to you~

it just ends the album on a good note, kinda nostalgic but not a downer feeling... it fits the album as a whole, leaves you the to be continued vibe...

nineteen

Album still keeps getting better and better for me after many listens.

WHTY? is easily the worst Deftones song ever.  Take it of the album and you have 10 amazing songs.  Bump Rosemary to the closer spot and you have a 5 star album.

KNY like DE took some time to grow on me. But I am not a music snob by any means, and given enough time, I can learn to appreciate almost any type of music. This goes for KNY as well. Upon first listen, I only liked a handful of songs. Now, after listening to it for two months straight, I can find something I like in every single song. The same goes for all of their albums. KNY is more varied than DE, albeit less aggressive for the most part. But it is more dynamic and it is layered. I even like WHTY, which a lot of people seem to dislike. Should it have been the closer? Maybe not. But it is a memorable song and it has sort of a dreamy/fantasy vibe to it that they haven't really had. And the riff in Goon Squad has a way of crawling it's way into my brain and staying there, despite the somewhat annoying vocal method in that song. So is this long-winded post the confessions of a fanboy? No, not in my opinion. It is simply the ideas of someone who went from writing this album off as mediocre, to someone who can appreciate the music for what it is. And it is head and shoulders above the majority of "music" that is out there these days.

worst deftones song ever? nope, not even close...

Braincleaner

I really can't see why seemingly so many people dislikes WHTY?
It's  certainly not the best song they've made, but it's still beautiful.

sooniletugo

Yeah.. don't get that. What's actually wrong with it? Nobody's saying it's the best track on the album, but why do so many people on here just completely shun it?

samson simpson

because their human

and not every human agrees with other humans opinions :)

BTW I think that song is fucking awesome

Yeah everyone should have their own opinion, it's just that nobody really explains why it sucks so much, y'know?

Man, Swerve City is just straight up awesome. Still my favourite along with Rosemary.
