Aren't you the same dude that said "fuck the new album"?  This post is so 2006.  Most of us dig each new album when it comes out, as true Deftones (not deftone) fans respect that they make the record that they want to make and don't try to re-create previous records.

Drinks won't stain this birth!

adrenaline & ATF are their only really heavy albums. not a real heavy one since. S/T is much more mellow than heavy, i dunno why people claim it so heavy, it's not. there's 4 heavy songs, hex, needles, wgtb, bloody cape. and 1 halfway heavy one battle-axe. the rest isn't aggressive by any means whatsoever. when more than half of an album isn't heavy, that's not a heavy album. also minerva is probably their most uplifting song ever (not that that's a bad thing)

sooniletugo

Depends what constitutes as 'heavy' for you really.

Graphic Nature - not much to say except this gets my vote as most boring song on KNY & one of the most uninteresting songs they've ever done.  Not bad so much as its just kinda...there.  Nothing memorable.  Lyrics are kinda cool but idk...listened once & can safely say it wont be getting a second

What kind of deftones fan doesnt give a song a second chance, thats one of the better songs on the album.

That's your opinion...my opinion is its boring & weak, conceptually & sonically...im not gonna discover anything new by listening to it again....i admit there have been songs of theirs that i didnt like at first but gave them multiple chances to pull me in,some did (Feiticeira, RX, N&P) others didnt (Minerva, Risk) but at least there was something wprth going back to in all those songs that stopped me from making a snap decision...they were worthy of another chance but Graphic just is what it is to me & i dont care for it

Yeah there is a few people who i always see talking shit about anything post self titled, makes me wonder why their still here obviously have so much free time they follow a band who has been a disapointment to them for almost a decade

Teknoman

For me it would go like this

Adrenaline: angry album
ATF: heavy album
WP: experimental album
S/T: dark album
SNW: spacey album
DE: bouncy album
KNY: not sure yet... maybe progressive album

I make music too

Def Till End

Album is amazing. Best since White Pony. Favorites are Swerve City, Poltergeist, entombed and Goon Squad. Confused why Tempest is the chosen single. Not single material in my opinion.

Don't you love how people on here assume things. it's my opinion get over it, no, i won't not say what i feel, and no I don't have to love everything they put out. Good god, grow up already.

No one is expecting them to rehash anything just because they don't love their new record. I'll never understand this logic. it's whatever though, not worth arguing online on here with people.

this place was cooler before the album came out. now it's all fucked.

For whatever reason, some people view this message board as an ongoing love letter to deftones. The amount of immature and irrational responses to negative commentary around here is a bit high, even by Internet standards.  Some people just can't handle someone disliking something they are passionate about. It brings out the worst in them.  Keep posting your thoughts. There are those out there capable of processing both negative and positive criticism.

I think Deftones have always been a band that create albums that grow on you. You might not enjoy it as much as you hoped you would when one of their records is released, but I feel that people often will have a more positive opinion of an album if they look back on it years later. That's kind of what happened to me with Saturday Night Wrist. I loved self titled so much, that it took me a long time to get into Saturday Night Wrist. But eventually, I looked back on it and rediscovered it and it's now one of my favorite Deftones records. I think a lot of people that disliked Koi No Yokan might experience this.

And if you just don't like it, and you come back to it in a few months or a year and you still don't like it, that's cool too! But I just feel that with some of the records that they made that weren't instantly fan favorites (Self Titled, Saturday Night Wrist), a lot of people gained a second opinion later on in their lives and appreciated it more.

gui

yeah I agree. I hated HATED self-titled at first, then looking back it's not half as bad as i thought it was. I even quite enjoy it now.

Yeah, its ok when people say "i dont like this particular song/album" but when you do it over and over again and keep saying to people something that we already heard several times it gets kind of annoying... just sayin'

And i liked Adrenaline back in the day but right now is my least favorite 'tones album.

When I first heard the recording of the first time they played "Rosemary", I was so excited because I thought it was a total return to form.

Then November 7th came, and I heard the whole album as well as the singles in the past, and learned......

They fucking played us by playing the BEST song on the whole album first, making us think thats how the whole thing was gonna sound....

You should know by now you can't judge a Deftones album off of one song

Electron§

I can tell what kind of album Adrenaline is by listening to "Engine No. 9"
I can tell what kind of album Around the Fur is by listening to "Lotion"
I can tell what kind of album White Pony is by listening to "Feiticeira"
I can tell what kind of album Deftones is by listening to "Bloody Cape"
etc.

Thats not completely true. They are diverse, but not so diverse that a majority of the songs do not sound somewhat similar.
