There hasn't been a true deftones album since self titled.  Everything after it is pussy shit.

I have to agree. Even though I feel SNW wasn't completely lacking the classic Deftones sound (I mean, c'mon, the ending of "Rats!Rats!Rats!" sounds like it could have been on White Pony, and "Cherry Waves" and "Riviere" feel solid and sincere) it still was a step farther out of their greatest elements.

i think Deftones don't really have a sound they change too much especially now half their albums have been softer it's hard to claim the aggressive stuff is their sound

KNY might end up ranking with Self Titled and SNW for me in the long run. We'll have to wait and see but I'm in love with it.

glad you enjoy it, i like it too i'm thinking opener and closer are somewhat weak, but i still listen to the whole thing without skipping songs

I skip Swerve City every time it seems. Just not feeling it. What Happened To You is growing on me though. Definitely weak for a Deftones closer but it works.

As far as Deftones closers go, they've pretty much all been weak.

Fist is ok
Damone is absolutely awful
Pink Maggit is boring
Moana is meh
Riviere being their only closer I really like, and it's one of my favorite songs
This Place is Death (and 976-Evil) are the only songs off DE that I just don't like

But What Happened To You? is growing on me, it's my second favorite closer of theirs, easily.

Fist and Pink Maggit are two of the most intense closers of any album I've ever heard!

Eh... I wouldn't exactly call Pink Maggit "intense."

But like I said, I like Fist.. And Fireal is def one of the best tracks in their entire catalogue.

Pink Maggit is a weird sort of song it can sort of lose a lot it's magic normally but it can be really intense try listening to it real loud in a completely black room it's a weird experience you pay attention more and can hear all the little bits frank does much better

We don't have 6 White Ponies or Adrenalines. Disturbed to me sounds the same on every record, and that's why I stopped liking them after 10,000 Fists. I just couldn't get into that sound anymore.

seriously. because reasons:
-that simple, emotionally heavy "this feeling gets old, and so do your eyes" lyric is maybe the best of all time.
-the drum intro is probably the one thing i'd remember if i lost all of my other musical memory. also, the rest of the drum parts are rad, and very abe-y.
-the passion in the vocals is just about unparalleled in their discography.
- the riff is just about the deftonesiest guitar part there is (especially that ringing chord/jugga trade off in the verse).

also, i am still of the opinion that koi no yokan is a great album.

i love damone have you seen that rehearsal video of them playing it Abe sounds epic,and that riff is very similar to the start of when girls telephone boys and that epic breakdown where abe and stephen are just crashing down in sync awesome

yea i play it alot to i just slowly play that first riff with little string bends and stuff it really zones me out too think the important thing to remember when playing it is to hold the notes the notes start sort of chopping as they fade it sounds really eerie then you go into the intense chord part it's just really emotionally charged song

I dont like Damone either. I dont think it's awful, but I think Damone and Head Up are the only two Deftones songs that I never listen to. But some songs frm Adrenaline have only just clicked for me, so maybe in the future they will too.
