hate to say it but the deftones have officially become like every other band thats been around to long...they ran out of ideas, are repeating themselves and are playing boring setlists live...its time break up and everyone go do their sep things and reunite in 7 years

Who all is going to be hanging around for a while? I plan to..
just curious.

I like this place, have gotten to know a bit of you from reading your posts, and this forum glorifies my favorite modern day band (cheeseburgers and all)

so I see no reason to leave.

LOL nice. Yeah, same here.. I've gotten to know a lot of ya'll in the couple months I've been a member (for the 2nd time)..
You're the only one that responded to that (that I noticed)

Didn't see your post but Yeah, Only been here a few days but i'll be sticking round, seems like a pretty good place.

Word. Yeah, I joined up back around 2003 (I was 16 @ the time) and I've seen a lot of people talk about how it used to be.. but I've enjoyed hanging around this time around.
Back when I was showing up in 2003, it seemed like there were waaay more intensely opinionated assholes than there are now.
Everyone for the most part is on the same page, haven't seen very many arguments or fighting back and forth.
Plus most of my friends (except 2) don't really listen to Deftones anymore. So it's nice to talk with a bunch of folks that share the love for tha tones like I do.

It has to be pretty obvious for me to notice it usually lol

only pieces remain

my favorites after about 15 listens so far:

1. Goon Squad
2. Poltergeist
3. Rosemary
4. Romantic Dreams
5. Gauze

The first few listens I was on the fence about Graphic Nature and WHTY. Now GN is clicking and I am grasping the track, I understand the digital bath comparisons now. WHTY is a decent song, but as a closer, I don't know, it just trails off. An epic (and I never use that word) album should have a strong track, but WHTY is just kind of there, fizzles out, and its over.

Yeah, I was the same with Graphic Nature right at first. It seemed to be the weakest, but I dig it a lot now. Chino's vocal style on that one is reminiscent of the way he sang on some of the Around The Fur tracks, to me at least.

My favs are Swerve City, Poltergeist, Entombed, Gauze, Goon Squad, & Rosemary

DeftonesNZ

Yeah but Deftones usually have pretty mellow songs as closers so i wasn't suprised

whipsy77

I'm probably gonna get violated over this...but, WHTY? the part where it says "the Sky is falling down......etc etc" has a very U2 like guitar sound to me

Haha na the tone and fast strumming style sounds a bit like where the streets have no name

There is something similar there...... Not a U2 fan but they can get some pretty sweet guitar sounds at times.

I am fucking stoked for the future of Deftones. Hopefully 2 more album + Eros....but I feel like we will get one more and MAYBE Eros. Oh well, 7 STELLAR records. A symbol of consistency without ever becoming stale.

+1

I think they'll do ten albums, Eros being one of them. You can tell they really want to release it, just not right now. The band shows no signs of going soft anytime soon and now that they've proven they can make classic records without screaming their ass off, they can go in new directions.

Two more albums + Eros and I'd be more than happy.

Graphic Nature-If you switched Chino with Robert Smith it could be a Cure song for sure...Has a "If only tonight " vibe...

+1  here's a very recent interview with Chino. He answers this question. He says he'd like to crank out a couple more Deftones albums.
I can only hope that Eros gets released.
If they decide not to then maybe Abe will leak it hahaha j/k ...but seriousy.  >:(

Eros will eventually see the light of day. With a fanbase as rabid as theirs, no "lost album" stays vaulted forever. It's not like any of them are of the mind of "No, how dare you!" If nothing else, they'll release it with all funds going toward Chi's outrageous medical bills.

Yeah, I agree. But there's always that "what if?" in the back of our minds that they may not. I feel like they will eventually in the future. I'm so anxious to hear that album. Those in-studio clips they were teasing us with at that time sounded awesome. I think it'll sound a lot like Self Titled as far as tone/darkness goes..

The problem is, chino said he's in no rush, I suspect they will tour for a year before he even gets around to recording vox.
