I can't believe I'm actually finding the album boring overall. I've only listened once so far, so I'm sure certain songs will grow on me, but I'm not hearing anything that stands out like particular tracks on all the previous releases.

Of course Adrenaline is my fav, so the further they get from that sound the harder time I have getting into it.

Not trolling btw, just chucking my opinion out there for anyone.

dude romantic dreams stands out  ;)

Youre not alone.  Theres quite a few people I know that have thrown the term "boring" around.
The tempo of the album is rather slow/medium.  Anyone looking for an energetic album wont find it here.  Its a great album, its just not for aggressive style purists.

I guess I can agree with you, but I also disagree with wen you said it's their least heavy album. DE is still less heavy to me. This album doesnt contain the 100% brutality or aggressive songs that past albums have, but musically, it's plenty heavy for me. But, you know, ppl want different things frm Deftones' music, so no doubt some ppl will love it, hate it or be in-between.

We are talking the same language, I misused the word heavy.  What I meant by "heavy" is aggressive guitars/bouncy riffs/screaming vocals.  This album has very little of that.

Yes it's a very melodic album. Instrumentals are fucking intense (Poltergeist is epic) but damn, Chino is boring. Still a strong release, but I miss the brutal wave.
face teh load.

Inkblades

Usually when there's something I don't like about a Deftones song, it probably means Chino is doing something vocally that I don't really dig. What Happened to You is the exact opposite. He's flawless on it, but the rest of the band ruins it for me. If any of the songs get remixed, I hope it is this one.

I think Graphic Nature is my favorite by far.

ive been coming here for alsmost 10 yerars daily, dont post too much. this album is a 100x better than DE. a lot darker and not so simple. even though its not st or snw, i think its really good. love it. listened maybe 20 times. like almost every song, romantic dreams and entombed stick out, goon squad too.... i think whto and leathers are the weakest. even though theyre still ok, killer album. i was hpong they wont go ddownhill after de, and this album is a lot better

I've had Goon Squad on repeat almost all day at work and am not even a little bit tired of it.  Can't wait to get off and go blast it in the car.  ;D

I said this once before when Rosemary leaked.. but picture this for a video..

A small plane flying in the night sky up north somewhere with 2 people, a man and a woman inside.. The plane is surrounded by the aurora borealis.. beautiful colors in slow motion as the plane soars through the empty sky.

cut to scenes in a dark area of the band playing.. with colors and stars, similar to the Diamond Eyes video..

The plane is in a dream like sequence with the colors coming from the sky to surround the plane during the first bridge of the song..

During the 3rd verse, the plane slows down to almost a stop in mid air.. the engines stall and then stop.. the ocean is now in clear view below with the colors reflecting back.. As soon as Chino says "EXPLODE!" the aurora RIPS the plane apart and it disintegrates. The people in the plane fall in slow motion toward the ocean during the final chorus and as the 2nd bridge starts... they begin to float through the colorful sky in bliss, eyes rolling back, engulfed by the aurora.. then they disappear, gone into where ever your mind thinks they went..

Feel free to add to it!!

In waves..
The ships have all sailed..
To the sea...

Parts  of Gauze reminds me of Crenshaw Punch and Risk. Anyone else?

Hahaha. I feel that but I'm one of the few that like Mein. I don't like Swerve City.

I'd just love to see Rosemary done for a live tv performance...hopefully they got at least one coming for whatever song.

Graphic nature - Digital bath ;-)
And somewhere, There's someone who cares. With a heart of gold, To have and to hold.

I know they recorded in analog. Doesn't feel computerized. Kinda has a  Foo Fighters (Wasting Light Album) mix to it. Less  quantize. feels real. ;D

i love the experimental stuff they do on it to.. DE was so regular, in hindsight.. this album is so much more unorthodox.. maybe the most experimental they've ever been...

the worst part is Chinos looping inhale cat scream. What were they thinking? 3/5

I can't stop laughing....

I love how Stephen's riff "stumbles" at the very end of Poltergeist.

2nd half of the 2nd verse of poltergeist... the guitar.. it's insane...
