Can someone PM me the 320?  I've been listening to the 1st one all day.  I had to drive a couple of hours today so really got to check out the album.  It's been a while since I cried, smiled, and moshed all to one record.  I hate to try to rate it already compared to their other albums but I might put it up there with their 1st 3 albums.  It's like S/T, SNW, and WP all thrown in a blender with a splash of awesome sauce.  Good Squad is my favorite so far.  I love how the intro leads you to being punched in the throat.

FUCK.

I wanted so bad for what I was hearing to be organic. Oh well. It still sounds absolutely bliss.

To anyone with the CD lyric booklet or in the know:

was this album recorded in analog like DE or were Pro-Tools used in the production?
says "Protools mix engineer: Chris Kasych"
They might have  recorded in analog and edited (then recording back to tape) and mixed in protools.

I never thought they could pull off an album closer that moved me more than "Rivere", but holy shit is WHTY amazing.

What happened to you? is now my favorite deftones song ever. it's only flaw is that it ends, a bit too fast.

This album is an absolute burner. I love all of their records without question but this one is on another level entirely. Endlessly listenable, full of beautiful nuances, songs that morph and expand and then shift back again. It's like they pushed their sound past what they thought possible and discovered so much more space outside the edges. Chino wasn't kidding when he called it "dynamic". That was putting it mildly.

I'll be loving this one forever like it was my child.

Hey man doesn't necessarily mean that. They might have recorded in analog and edited (then recording back to tape) and mixed in protools.

Gauze feels very S/T mixed with SNW sound with DE-style polishing.

No doubt. I just despise Pro-Tooled-anything. I loved the sound on DE because it sounded so natural and in your face. But I'm not complaining because as you said earlier, this album is miles deeper than DE sonically.

I approve.

What Happened to U is as good as it gets imo.  It absolutely soars.  Always steppin out of their box to create something that delivers absolute musical euphoria.  I fucking love Deftones.
