I know there are always going to be people that don't like certain albums but I can't see how any Deftones fan would delete KNY from their computer.  It's just so full and amazing to me.  I can see not liking a couple of songs but this album is too killer to ditch the whole thing.  I can't wait to give them some cash for the CD when it hits the shelf.  They earned it on this one for sure.

i think that, for the good of this awesome band, anyone who downloaded this already or will before November 13 here in the states (or Friday outside of the US), should be REQUIRED to buy this when it comes out.  i know i am, whether if it's for a Christmas gift for myself or just a digital download on iTunes or Amazon.  this is going right in my collection and i'll cherish it for as long as i'm alive.  Deftones made another work of art with Koi No Yokan.

Man about 75% of us here have already preordered the album.

i understand, but since i'm new here i just wanted to point out that there are still people who, once they have it, that's it, they won't buy it and they won't think twice about their decision.

lol word. Yeah, I'm on about my 5th listen now of the album.
I just want time to hear these new tracks.. once I haven't listened to Tempest or Leathers in a minute - I'll welcome them with open arms.

But they fit very nicely within the album!

as long as they buy a ticket and some merch when they come around... i dont see a problem. support anyway you can. hell, make a donation any amount to chi and that should cover it imho.

I think I signed up sometime before SNW came out. Lurked for a while before that. I first became a deftones fan when I heard Change back in 2000. Had a feeling I had found my new favourite band as soon as I took out White Pony from the library. agh the days of getting cds from the library.

Anyone notice that the echoing inward scream isnt present at the end of Rosemary before Stef goes off on that heavy quadrouplet riff in the album version, but in the cassette rip it's definitely there?!

It's not on the cassette version that I have.  Weird.

Edit: It was added by someone and I don't have that version.  Word.

Someone responded a page back that it was added in by the uploader, taken from a Crosses track.

seriusly i cant stop listening RD, i put on hold all the other songs  :-\

Substance Abuse

When the band talked about being in a different head space and place as a band, comparatively it seems as if Diamond Eyes only hinted at that. That album was more streamlined and simplistic, brimming with positivity and an upbeat outlook, yet only intimating the progression which was ahead. Many view Diamond Eyes as a step back, but I think it was a wonderful album, demonstrating how easily the band can facilitate between heavy and soft so effortlessly and then blend their heavier approach together with a softer sound more consistently.

Here on Koi No Yokan, it appears as if the band has fully tapped into the potential that the other album hinted at. Every song features something new, demonstrating the clearer, less convoluted head space, with more intent to forge ahead into new territory. The band seems to be making music together and enjoying each others presence, feeding off each other and thriving.

I love the clarity and heft of the production. The walls of sound engorge rather than attack, and each facet of the band accentuates each other seamlessly. This is clear on 'Entombed' which would have been purely electronic years back, but instead features the entire band melding together at their core. Koi No Yokan is easily my favorite Deftones album is years, already on par with White Pony and surpassing both Saturday Night Wrist and their eponymous album. I hold Diamond Eyes in high regard, but in due time, when all the nuances of each song have been scoured I'm certain this will be appreciated even more.

I couldn't be happier.

Anyway, buy the album people. They've earned our money. Go to shows if you can. Bands like this need our money to keep thriving and producing music that imbues our life with rhythm.

Oh pffft that sounds like a lot of trouble to go through to add an extra scream..

I skipped them during the first few listens haha because of course I wanted to hear the new songs first to catch up to the three I'd already heard, and only then listen to the album all the way through. Very nicely-flowing album.

Jeez, they werent kidding wen they said Romantic Dreams is a monster. Not in the aggressive sense, but just a dark horse kinda thing, fantastic song and one that I wouldnt expect to be so appealing to me.
