Koi No Yokan thread

hey everyone, new to Sharing Lungs.  i've been a huge Deftones fan since i've heard their song Be Quiet and Drive. ended up getting Around the Fur, never looked back.

i have to say this new album Koi No Yokan, so far, is one of the best albums i've ever heard (not just Deftones, out of all the albums i've heard in my life).  Poltergeist is now probably my favorite Deftones song and i haven't even touched the other songs on the album yet.  this is gonna be awesome

From all the reviews I've read and listening to all of you, this album sounds like it will come to stand as the magnum opus they were always moving towards making. A career pinnacle. A watershed album, if you will.

I'm so fucking excited for the 13th, it's practically tangible.

Take someone who doesn't know who Deftones are. Show them this album, if they don't like any song off of it. They don't like Deftones.

I believe this album to be DEFTONES. Summed up in 53 minutes.

Disagree. All of their stuff has different sounds.

IMO I believe this to be everything they are. The aggression, the beauty, the sampled soundscapes. The dark and happy atmosphere in one album.

Truly a pinnacle in their career atm.

No worries, dude. I've turned so many people onto this band, I should get a medal of honor. Or at least a decoder ring or something. I think a whole new generation of fans are going to discover this record in time and realize that this band is miles above anyone else out there making heavy or sonically-rich music.

I haven't even alloweed myself to hear the fucking thing yet, but to hear that they've made a record every bit as astonishing and as ambitious as White Pony at this stage in their career is orgasmic. I knew from the moment I heard ATF in '97 that these guys were the real deal and this album will be my reward for making the journey.

Yeah.. I love that fade out riff stephen plays as Gauze fades out.

It's simple, but his guitar tone makes it so hauntingly awesome

Love it. When it's aggressive, it aggressive enough for me. Dynamic and eclectic. Goon Squad, Poltergeist and Gauze are some of their best songs. Refined aggression as I always call it. Not as raw as ATF or Adrenaline. But still good.

I prefer Diamond Eyes to be honest. At least I got one song I can listen to after all is said and done. They haven't lost me completely, but i'm close to fading from the band (as of their current form/style)
