Went out last night, got drunk, played drums while sobering up today. Went out with gf, came home, looked for leak.

Do I have to "prove" myself that I have a social life? Some people are just introverted, ever thought about that? Hell I used to be like it.

I certainly wouldnt want to hear angry rock from them if they arent in that place in their lives. I want to hear REAL SHIT.

you know the bridge/breakdown in the boys republic? when the mood switch to some hautning eerie shit? it isn't angry rock in that part, but i wish for moments like that. i don't know if that's a good example, but stuff like that which is emotionally heavy i love... personally i don't mind if they become softer, but i do have some problem if every song will have happy catchy sing a long part. if they make choruses that is commercial sounding for radio, that's not "real shit" to me.. it should cut deep and move you

I agree, but I don't see them making more than one or two songs somewhat "commercial-esque".
Kinda like Diamond Eyes and Sextape. But even still those are two pretty good songs from them. Sextape kinda sounds like a rehashed Digital Bath (mainly just the chorus).
I feel like if they were gonna write catchy songs for radio, they would have done that a long time ago when they hit their first peak during/right after WP. Not now when they're on their 7th album.
They've always stayed pretty true to themselves by writing real music. Which is why we all love them.
They aren't no sellouts like Korn or Incubus for example. (I say Incubus because they used to be very good but their last two albums are shit. Love Hurts? Really.. ugh his lyrics just went to shit.)

I understand what youre saying, but the deftones havent sold out for radio yet. Chino said in an interview once that they arent a radio band and they dont ever sell a TON of records, that their money comes from touring and thats what they love so I dont think it will be due to being radio friendly. I do get the emotional heavy part and im hoping for that too but think if they played a 30 second preview of The Boys Republic, the part youre referring to wouldnt even be in that. Im REALLY hoping for some heavier stuff but i want chills heavy, not just screaming and 8 string baritone riffs, kind of what youre looking for as well. I think we will all be blown the fuck away by this album. Lets just hope they NEVER stop making music.

Lol yeah, I was thinking the same thing too.. but it'll sound SO GOOD on the album.
He's gonna have a hard time pulling some of those high notes off.
But it's Chino, the mutha fuckin boss.

I do question sometimes if it's a matter of he has trouble with them live, or if it's him just holding back because of the tour. Playing and singing full voice night after night + all the jumping and energy on stage would be tiring.

I think its because he's got fat. His voice suffers..he sure doesn't have the energy recently it seems like. The first Rocket Skates performance is an example of when he was in great shape (relatively) and you can just see how much it helped his performance all round.

I agree though. There is a very noticeable difference in his vocals/performance when he is in shape/slim compared to when he gained weight. Still love the dude. He's a boss.
