I haven't listened to the 30 second clips an probably won't. I'm a bit skeptical though. I don't know if I'm going to love this album. I really like Leathers (mostly becase my band covers it an its really fun to play), Rosemary I really like but it doesn't blow me away but Tempest just kind of bores me. Seems most songs on the album will be in that style.

I've thought Tempest was a major letdown from the first time I heard it a couple months ago, but I don't agree that the others sound "in that style." Thankfully, from the clips, it sounds like Tempest is on track to be the weakest song on the album (and certainly among the weakest few of their career).

From listening to the clips, for me personally, I can now understand how Leathers, Tempest, & Rosemary all fit onto the album. I think the other songs will compliment them quite nicely

I REALLY dont understand these comparisons with KNY. If you want to say it sounds similar to anything, MAYBE Diamond Eyes. When people say it has a 80's or 90's feel to it, its broad but it still doesnt make sense, but Foo Fighters? Phil Collins? Arena Rock? what? and I certainly dont hear ATF or Adrenaline..

Deftones albums all have a very individual feel to them, so I wouldnt compare this album to ANYTHING else. They all stand on their own as a masterpiece. I dont have a complaint about any of them. If anything, I think this album has a much lighter feel to it than say, ATF or Adrenaline but they were young then and angrier.. I certainly wouldnt want to hear angry rock from them if they arent in that place in their lives. I want to hear REAL SHIT. Bands evolve and thank god they havent lost their edge.. They say it in interviews all the time, they are on a forward path.. they feel good right now and I think this album will make us feel amazing too.

perfectly healthy to have low expectaions i think, or else you might get all shocked and then feel empty like deffosho after hearing the clips. but check out goon squad,graphic nature or poltergiest.. no, no s/t but different sounding than the studio songs we've heard from kny. i have hopes for those ones in particular.

You're thoughts on the song by song was pretty accurate to what I felt. I think there's a lot to be heard during the verses, probably more aggressive Chino vox. He likes to get aggressive on the vocals during the verses then sing soft/melodic on the chorus.

you know the bridge/breakdown in the boys republic? when the mood switch to some hautning eerie shit? it isn't angry rock in that part, but i wish for moments like that. i don't know if that's a good example, but stuff like that which is emotionally heavy i love... personally i don't mind if they become softer, but i do have some problem if every song will have happy catchy sing a long part. if they make choruses that is commercial sounding for radio, that's not "real shit" to me.. it should cut deep and move you
