i never liked Xerces so i don't hear the similarity, both seem to have the same kind of huge arena rock chorus though

Swerve City: Nice, but a lot happier-sounding than I expected.
Romantic Dreams: Doesnt sound that good frm the 30-second clip, but 30 seconds isnt enough to get the real feel of a song that's meant to be full of tempo-changes and whatnot.
Leathers: Love it.
Poltergeist: Love it. Love the melody of the chorus and love the tone of it. It seems to be one of the only songs on the album that isnt happy-sounding, and has a more taunting vibe to it.
Entombed: Sounds a lot like Crosses and I think I hyped it up in my head too much, but still intriguing. And like I said, it feels like the ending to an anime lol.
Graphic Nature: Dark-ish sounding, I like it.
Tempest: Also like it.
Gauze: Could be one of my favorites on the album. Love the riff towards the end, love Chino's vocals, etc.
Rosemary: Love the song, but the outro goes on for too long in my opinion without much going on.
Goon Squad: Could be one of the heaviest songs on the album.
What Happened To You: This does not sound like MX lol. But I love it, I dont know what ppl are tlking about. Sounds quite a bit different, but a kinda light but melancholy feel to it maybe. I dont know, obviously need to hear more, but I'm enjoying the preview.

that bassline has a 80's feel, it instantly made me think of... Phil Collins  ;D

some reviews compared some songs to foo fighters, arena rock, and now fans compres them to phil motherfucking collins. i wonder how far deftones can push it without ppl going "ok,that's just not them". gladly for deftones and their label, a huge amout of fans will always swallow everything they put out no matter what and no matter how corny it will sound  ;D

How about you then? You talk about them like you are not really a fan anymore.

Lol what? He's given his opinions on the previews and likes some of them, and even the ones he doesnt like, he's said that they're just previews and it could change wen listening to the whole song. You can be a fan without loving everything they do. One of my favorite bands is The Mars Volta, and God I hated their last two albums (before their newest one). Vesanic isnt really a fan of DE and criticizes the shit outta their live performances, yet look at how much he contributes to things here. Personally, I'm one of those Deftones fans that look almost everything they've done. But some ppl are more critical, picky, or have higher expectations than me, and that's where it comes frm.

No..he's been bitching for ages about Deftones to the extent where it seems like he really dislikes their current state and almost the band in general now. I agree that their live performances are pretty ropey in general from a musical standpoint but they can really bring an energy and atmosphere unrivaled at other times. I respect his opinion but the negativity in every single one of his posts in my opinion seems to stem from the typical grumpy 'good old days' syndrome.

Right? It's depressing.. the only thing I want to do right now in life is to listen to this album.

It's like the strangest thing to me that this album hasn't leaked at all. I'm glad in a way, but my selfishness wants it NOW!

I've been homeless ever since sandy... My house on Long Beach Island has a foot of water in it. Lost alot of stuff and all I wanna do is spin the new deftones album... Fuck, I'm fucked.

Swerve City: Kind of a letdown since it doesn't sound as heavy and bouncy as it has been described. The melody of the chorus is still very sweeping and gripping, though.
Romantic Dreams: Still curious about those alleged changes in tempo and "trap doors". The snippet is mellow and soothing and on the whole quite solid.
Leathers: The bridge is pretty cool, but the chorus is still kind of "eh". My least favorite from what we've heard.
Poltergeist: Love Chino's aggressive singing style and the heavy riffs by Steph and Sergio. Way more bouncy than "Swerve City". Probably.
Entombed: Very textural and melodic with beautiful vocals by Chino and subtle, yet enforcing beats by Frank.
Graphic Nature: Darker than the previous songs, with a slow and deep riff by steph that contributes Chino's vocals. I like it.
Tempest: We probably all heard it already, so I have nothing else to add. Good, but my least favorite together with "Leathers". The verse is killer, though.
Gauze: Very melodic, yet fresh and gripping chorus with a following heavy riff by steph. Love it!
Rosemary: Bittersweet and expansive song. I really like it though I still hope the ending riff is "tastier" and deeper on the CD.
Goon Squad: The snippet is introduced by a very heavy riff and Chino's screaming in the style of SNW. Could be the heaviest song on the record. I instantly loved it.
What Happened To You?: Odd melody with long-drawn-out and beautiful vocals by Chino, followed by a superb experimental bassline that gives me a very warm feeling. Hard to describe it, actually. Probably my highlight of the album!

Keep in mind that every sampler was just a snippet of the song's chorus. So if I were you, I would expect it to be a lot more diverse, varied and probably even heavier in the verses and bridges. Damn, but even yet it sounds very expansive, experimental and beautifully different than any previous album.

Went out last night, got drunk, played drums while sobering up today. Went out with gf, came home, looked for leak.

Do I have to "prove" myself that I have a social life? Some people are just introverted, ever thought about that? Hell I used to be like it.
