Its kinda crazy for me to see how between albums and sometimes it was years of wait , people were truly thirsty for any new material .. and we are all fans , but we wait so long already why ruin it with snippets or leaks .. its like starving for years and eating bread crumbs before having an epic meal...

Just chill people part of the pleasure is the anticipation.

Good metaphor. I think a lot of people listen just out of rabid curiosity. There's a cliche about curiosity, but I won't say it because its a cliche.

Also, so far, to me, the standouts are Gauze, Goon Squad and the atmospherics on Entombed. Oh, and Poltergeist, which I already knew would be rad. Romantic Dreams sounds like very recent Chino, which is "catchy as fuck, but maybe a little too poppy?"...but after everything we've heard about that song, I'm now interested to hear the "trap doors" and "shifts" in it.

Gauze is sounding sick... I think I love them all so far, wow.

And how much does Good Squad fulfill that dream sequence sounding comment we heard. It sounds like a "running from danger" type of thing lol.

The "ohhhh" part Chino says in Romantic Dreams REALLY reminds me something that I can't quite put my finger on...

Reminds me a tiny bit of Dai the Flu.

Just found it hahaha. BINGO!

Album sounds killer
The sky is falling down
The night is calling you
A star is burning out
The sky belongs to you

What Happened to You? <3

I've said all along KNY will be the softest album yet. I'm suspecting I'll be right and at this point in my life that's what I'd like to hear from deftones.

I guess Stephen stopped fighting to get really heavy songs on the album.

Personally i don't care, i don't listen to really heavy music anymore.

He's too busy golfing.

I still can't believe the negative comments about Romantic Dreams a page ago..it sounds great and very emotional in a way. Very good.

It's insane how almost every song sounds so epic like you're hearing it during some huge worldwide event and everyone's there or something (lol)..

Terrible.

god damn it vesanic you worry me when you say stuff like this

why is it terrible

It is not terrible.
Its pretty damn good.
It is because everyone read those reviews and they thpught they can describe songs with letters.
So the snippets are way different than they thought.
Thats why people say ''its awful, terrible''
In fact its ''not the thing you imagine before''
But the thing is, snippets are all cut of CHOROUS parts. We dont know how they came in there.

*For sure its the best album of the year. Best Deftones album? Maybe..has some potential.

God this made the wait even worse for me. I'm not listening to THIS. SELFCONTROLL

I heard enough to know it doesn't suck. RD sounds good to me.  Really like poltergeist and goon squad as well.

from_musings

they said "look out for romantic dreams" but i didn't understand that it was that kind of warning  :(

Personally, I'm done with their heaviness in a metal sense. Don't get me wrong, I love when they're heavy but they have enough of that in their back catalogue to satisfy me these days.

Yes.

well as long as you said it before hearing the samples

I still get the feeling that the album will have heavy moments. Swerve City has a pretty metal riff, there are still the "unknown" parts of Romantic Dreams (and holy shit, does that chorus sound like something out of the early 90's), we know Leathers and Poltergeist have heavy moments, Graphic Nature's snippet has a heavy riff at the end and Goon Squad obviously sounds heavy. Tempest and Rosemary aren't exactly metal, but I wouldn't call them soft either. Sounds like that usual balance of Chino and Stephen to me. Stephen is still throwing down some heavy riffage, but Chino just isn't being very metal over it.

it was about the snippet, not the song. a good movie can have a bad scene but still be good as a whole. we'll see

I'm fine with this as well. I want more of those interesting melodies.

Agreed on the early 90s part of RD, and other songs as well. God I love that even if some people think it's lame for some reason.

Dude, almost everything you've just written is wrong. Some people just have another perspective and you should accept it, don't try and think for people.
