Bloody Cape did not have that problem.
Bloody capes ending is amazing "GOD HELP ME!!!" lol

I like the screams, but the riff is just 1 note being repeated over, i like more creativity. whatever my opinion
I think the simplicity of the riffs is a characteristic of the deftones , Stephen always writes simple but good riffs i love that i don't want to hear some guy dancing all over the fret board just because he can.

Steff can shred and i remember him showing it in an interview or something but i do remember seeing him shred! But i love his simple emotional riffs More than some shredding.. like on battle axe, such a simple riff but man it gets to you! And if i do recall bloody capes last riff where chinos screaming god help me is pretty hard for some beginners :/ you gotta be fast and shit .. i learned it after awhile though

post me a vid of stef shredding :D lol
Does a little here
Guitar.com Interviews Stephen Carpenter Part 1 (1/2)
but i remember seeing a live clip or something and he started playing megadeth
ive looked on YouTube and actually never seen a vid of him shredding its like he doesn't care for it?

white pony era - stef guitar class thing: he just quickly does a downward sweep...  no hammer and back up, no technique :D
i don't think it's his thing at all.

lungdamage

^ but i'm sure he has some moves... and he knew an arpeggio  haha :D

Im telling you this guy steff knows his shit! Lol its just not his thing though and id rather hear emotional heavy riffs than some shredding .. but we'll see how entombed sounds like! ;)
Was it like it seemed?...

Oh im sorry man its just that all these "PM PLEASE" posts just take away time and i didnt see you post it :/ but yes tapping is pretty easy .. your just tapping on the fretboard making cool melody sounds and stuff .. but sweeling ... completely different and takes alot of practice .. i still dont know how to do it .. ao if steff knows how to sweep, then he obviously practices shredding :3

haha yeah i've played since i was 13, now i'm 30, sweeping is still a bitch for me... slow sweeping is really cool. but tosin abasi tapping around chord formations...with the odd crazy sweep... that still owns me.. :( he sweeps shit that shouldn't really exist, and it's amazing.

listening to him is like stepping into the ocean.

EDIT: back on topic :)?

fair call..

ps - if you'd meant Palm Mute, that would have been a sweet riff ;)

Swerve City better not be heavy like Diamond Eyes (the song).  One chorus like that is enough and we already have enough of a chorus in that vein again with Leathers.  Leathers is altogether much better though.

Same.

Stef has a great right hand.  To me it's the strongest aspect of his playing.

Yeah i love his playing style , it's cool how he pulls back and sort of stalls every now and then it keeps you guessing then when you think he going to stop again he finally launch's into some super heavy breakdown riff.

As a big fan of Dftns since 2000, I consider album version of Rosemary as one of their finest work ever.  KNY will be a goodie:).

Electron§

I'm excited for "Romantic Dreams". Sounds like Faith No More/Mr. Bungle influence will be in that one with all the alleged tempo changes.

And "Rosemary" is my favorite off what we've heard so far of this new album. I think "Leathers" (minus the chorus) is probably my second favorite. I despise "Tempest" because it has all the problems "Leathers" chorus has. And "Poltergeist" I cant really tell if I like because the live version is obviously a bit rough for me to tell.
