Well well well, I had the privilege of hearing KNY in its entirety tonight about 3 hours ago. Being somewhat connected to a certain insider (think the band Samiam) seemed to pay off. Whether you choose to believe me or not is up to you, but ya'll can ask Cyn about my credibility. I am def no troll. KNY is most def their most unique album to date, a fair amount of segways/segues that I dug a lot. Seems like Chino stepped it up on guitar. Way up. You guys are all freaking over hearing the studio version of "Rosemary" but it doesnt sound all that diff than the live version. As far as the other songs... There were a couple I personally didnt care for ("Poltergeist", "Gauze", "Goon Squad") but "What Happened to You?" And fucking "Romantic Dreams" are retarded. Be patient fellers and fellettes, you shall be rewarded for your patience.
Describe some of these songs, that you didnt like. Are they slow? cliche? too soft?

Cliche comes to mind. I didnt like "Sextape", "Beauty School", or "Rocket Skates" off of DE. I tend to gravitate toward heavier/dynamic songs alot more than the softer/cliche songs. "Tempest" is a great example... Great song but I think it could have went in a diff direction after the interlude-ish section.

You're entitled to your opinion mang. That song does nothing for me. Now, "Risk", "976-Evil" and "Royal" are all amazing. KNY def has a diff feel than their previous albums. I know all their albums sound diff but it just sounds otherwordly and really experimental compared to DE. To me DE just sounds like them going thru the motions. KNY sounds like they took a much more cerebral approach. Thats the best way i can explain it.

Glad to hear that man. You've got me even more pumped for this album. I'm curious about Entombed. How's the guitar work on that?

976-EVIL

Yeah fair enough i am glad it's atleast more experimental, DE was more straight forward than other of their records ,but when they experiment they don't always get a whole album full of good songs but they also have some really awesome gems.

only pieces remain

Really? I thought that one had a lot of tapping from Stephen, something I definitely haven't heard before. Guess the rumors were false?

The guitarist/vocalist in my band is good friends with one of the dudes in the band i mentioned previously (i wont say who) and he just happened to be in the area. He has connects at WB and works with Sylvia Massey among other big wigs. I never expected to hear it... Just kinda happened.

Oh, he finger taps, I've just heard it done a million times before from other bands. Perfect example is that song on Converge's new album. But youre right, Steph has never attempted it before. Its def cool as shit but to me ot a little monotonous.

Yeah I gotcha there, still looking forward to it. Thinking about how that would fit into a Deftones song is pretty exciting. Is Graphic Nature a heavy one? Sounds like it'd be a banger. (sorry you're being bombarded with questions here haha)

heaviest and slowest track?

Well, thats really a matter of opinion... "Leathers" is pretty fucking heavy to me, as is "Rosemary" but in a diff way than "Leathers". "Graphic Nature" and "Romantic Dreams" are heavy. As is "Poltergeist" to an extent.

This is exactly what I was hoping for!  I completely agree with you - Diamond Eyes had some highlights, but it was a little too straight forward for me.  The fact that this one seemed more ''cerebral'' to you has got my dick hard. I loved that about SNW.

Shameless plug. Most of you would most likely dig my band VESSL. We pull ALOT of influence from Deftones. Check us out: www.myspace.com/vessl. It'll hold you guys over til KNY drops.

Sorry, Ves if i went off topic but you knows you love me <3 And Vesanic approves of VESSL haha
